Senate Republicans will cover Mueller’s back….

This week had a hard push by House Republicans and some right leaning media to question Speccial Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into all matter’s Trump because of email comments by a lawyer on Mueller’s staff and a senior FBI agent that describe Trump in an unflattering matter and voiced support last year for Hillary Clinton….

The agent and lawyer have been reassigned and the text messages shown to the Senate Judiciary Committee….

The head of the committee , Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa),  has indicated that the and others have NO problem with Mueller’s investigation and Mueller boss, Deputy Attorney General Roenstein,  also has no problem with the way things are going….

Senate Republicans are scrambling to shield special counsel Robert S. Mueller III from mounting GOP fury about new evidence that members of his team were biased against President Trump, as factions of the party charge that his entire investigation is tainted.

The stakes are high: If the GOP moves to hold Mueller accountable for his former subordinates’ actions, it could enable Trump to order his ouster and cripple the inquiry he has run examining Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and whether the president’s campaign coordinated with the Kremlin to tilt its outcome in his favor.

But as House Republicans demand that the special counsel face a reckoning over the newly released details of anti-Trump, pro-Hillary Clinton text messages sent between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, Senate Republicans are fighting to preserve Mueller’s ability to steer the Russia investigation to its conclusion.

“There’s all kinds of reasons to believe there’s political interference, and we ought to get to the bottom of it,” Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) said, adding: “I’ve got confidence in Mueller, as far as what he’s doing in the Trump-Russia investigation, and I don’t have any reason to believe otherwise.”…

The FBI agent involved had unkind words about Bernie Sanders and Chelsea Clinton, also….

Democrats pressed the Justice Department on Thursday to explain why it released salacious, anti-Donald Trump text messages exchanged between two FBI employees who are still under investigation for their work on the Russia special counsel investigation.

[House] Judiciary Committee ranking member Jerrold Nadler of New York and two other panel Democrats asked for a full review of DOJ’s decision making that led to Tuesday night’s release of about 375 texts that the FBI officials — Peter Strzok and Lisa Page — sent over a 15-month period during the 2016 presidential campaign….

More on the release of the 375 texts of the FBI officals to the public…

You’ve seen the on-going pseudo-controversy about two FBI employees who sent texts to each other trashing now-President Trump. The two were having an affair at the time and Special Agent Peter Strzok was reassigned off the Mueller probe and in essence demoted over the texts. Public employees are allowed to have political opinions. Indeed, there are laws specifically protecting government employees from being disciplined or having their work affected by their political views. The only real infraction here seems to be that the two used government devices to discuss their private political opinions when they should have reserved those for their personal devices – hardly a major infraction.

Nonetheless, defenders of the President have leaped from these emails to saying the entire Clinton emails probe – Strzok was involved in both probes – and the Mueller investigation are irreparably tainted. Others are going so far as to say the DOJ and the FBI need to undergo a political purge. The head of one prominent right-wing legal advocacy group went as far as to say the FBI should be shut down. It is a stark reminder of how many will go so far so quickly to prevent the enforcement of the law and lawful investigations when it comes to Donald Trump….

In the other countywide races, Republican County Clerk Maureen O’Connell was ahead of Democrat Dean Bennett, who runs a management consulting firm.

For Nassau comptroller, Republican Steven Labriola, a former deputy comptroller, led Democrat Jack Schnirman, the Long Beach City manager, in the battle to succeed Democrat George Maragos.

But it was the hard-fought county executive’s race that received the most attention at the Democratic and Republican gatherings Tuesday night. Green Party candidate Cassandra Lems also was on the ballot….

There ARE more Democrats in Nassau County than  Republicans, whose political machine had run the place….But the demographic ‘s of the country are working even more against Republicans as the country turns more brown and yellow…In addition, there has been the arrest and conviction, which has been thrown out , of for New York State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and his son on corruption charges  …..The out going County Executive Republican Ed Mangano is under federal indictment for political corruption also.

The Curran win is a BIG blow to the Nassau County political machine….

This post has beeen updated to reflect the final tally in the County executive race…

The Dallas Cowboys running back will begin 6 six weeks off starting this weeks game if he doesn’t appeal….

Ezekiel Elliott will begin serving his six-game suspension for domestic violence following a 24-hour stay, a federal judge ruled Monday.

U.S. District Judge Katherine Polk Failla announced her decision to uphold the NFL’s six-game suspension over domestic violence allegations several hours after lawyers for the NFL Players Association and the NFL Management Council argued their positions on Elliott’s suspension again – mostly repeating their prior arguments.

“The NFLPA has failed to demonstrate a substantial question warranting the extraordinary remedy of injunctive relief or a balance of hardships that decidedly weighs in its favor,” Failla wrote in her ruling….

Breaking Paul Manafort and Richard Gates indicited by Mueller Grand Jury ….12 charges

Image result for manafort/gates

Manafort was the campaign manager for Donald Trump last year…..Richard Gates worked for Manafort….

Gates took over as liaison between campaign and RNC after Manafort left the campaign….

The charges go for 31 pages….

The highest is Conspiracy ….

They involve tax issues from money laundering and failure to report foreign government contacts, hiding the income. and failing to report that income….Tens of Millions ( in the $70 area ) possibly from 2006 to  2016….The charges had to be made before the end of the month….

There is NO mention of the Trump campaign…..

But there IS a Russian connection here….

The money trail is pictured as going to people who are associated with Ukrainan’s and Russian’s that are connected to Putin…Manafort did try to advance a pro-Russian stance by the Trump campaign….The charges indicate the Grand Jury has heard from people who can support Mueller’s charges…White House staff are currently being interviewed….

The action of the two where during the time before and during the time they worked for the Trump campaign…..

Manafort  and Gates have surrendered to the FBI for processing….

(Manafort is also being investigated by the New York State Attorney General’s office….)

Gates has not as I type this…

They made sure they where in Washington….

There will be updates to this post as they become known….

Trump to stop paying Healthcare Insurance Subsidies….

Frustrated by not having Congress be able to Repeal the Affordable Healthcare program also known as Obamacare…..

Donald Trump is going at the program on his own….

In actions in the last two days he is pulling away the basic of the program….The idea of healthy people helping to support lower rates for sicker people…And making healthcare insurance affordable for more Americans…His actions do NOT repeal the program…The simply take chucks of the whole thing apart…piece by piece….The process will drag on for months…

Trump’s throw down at Democrats, who  with, several Republican Senator’s have been able to stop Repeal efforts is ‘come and see me and we’ll deal’….

Insurance markets and hospital stocks are in flux right now due to Trump’s typical chaos theory of doing things in order to try to steer people to him….

He has the ability to do these things because Republicans NEVER approved writing most of the program into a law they where trying to use against Democrats….Congress COULD in fact provide the money for the payments (and other Trump actions) and put them in the current law taking the President’s control of them away…

The law has gained in  popularity  and Trump’s actions will NOT make those who have been able to gain insurance (Republican voters included) at a lower rate will probably lose it again….Trump and the Republicans are sure to mount a campaign to blame THEIR moves affects on people on the Democrats….

The 2018 Midterm elections are just a year out….

President Trump will scrap subsidies to health insurance companies that help pay out-of-pocket costs of low-income people, the White House said late Thursday. His plans were disclosed hours after the president ordered potentially sweeping changes in the nation’s insurance system, including sales of cheaper policies with fewer benefits and fewer protections for consumers.

The twin hits to the Affordable Care Act could unravel President Barack Obama’s signature domestic achievement, sending insurance premiums soaring and insurance companies fleeing from the health law’s online marketplaces. After Republicans failed to repeal the health law in Congress, Mr. Trump appears determined to dismantle it on his own.

Without the subsidies, insurance markets could quickly unravel. Insurers have said they will need much higher premiums and may pull out of the insurance exchanges created under the Affordable Care Act if the subsidies were cut off. Known as cost-sharing reduction payments, the subsidies were expected to total $9 billion in the coming year and nearly $100 billion in the coming decade.

“The government cannot lawfully make the cost-sharing reduction payments,” the White House said in a statement.

It concluded that “Congress needs to repeal and replace the disastrous Obamacare law and provide real relief to the American people.”

In a joint statement, the top Democrats in Congress, Senator Chuck Schumer of New York and Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, said Mr. Trump had “apparently decided to punish the American people for his inability to improve our health care system.”

“It is a spiteful act of vast, pointless sabotage leveled at working families and the middle class in every corner of America,” they said. “Make no mistake about it, Trump will try to blame the Affordable Care Act, but this will fall on his back and he will pay the price for it.”

Lawmakers from both parties have urged the president to continue the payments. Mr. Trump had raised the possibility of eliminating the subsidies at a White House meeting with Republican senators several months ago. At the time, one senator told him that the Republican Party would effectively “own health care” as a political issue if the president did so.

“Cutting health care subsidies will mean more uninsured in my district,” Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Republican of Florida, wrote on Twitter late Thursday. She added that Mr. Trump “promised more access, affordable coverage. This does opposite.”

But Speaker Paul D. Ryan, Republican of Wisconsin, praised Mr. Trump’s decision and said the Obama administration had usurped the authority of Congress by paying the subsidies. “Under our Constitution,” Mr. Ryan said, “the power of the purse belongs to Congress, not the executive branch.”……

State Attorneys General Announce Lawsuit Against Trump’s O’care Blow

Democratic attorneys general from a handful of states announced Friday their plans to file a lawsuit against President Trump’s efforts to end Obamacare subsidies to insurers.

“We’re going to do everything we can to make sure that those payments can continue to go forward,” California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (D) said in a conference call the attorneys general held with reporters….

A security guard who oversees a number of pubs in the area has told the BBC he saw four people stabbed by three attackers.

The man, who was deeply shocked and asked not to be named, said he was at the Market Porter pub when a colleague at another bar said there was a stabbing at the Borough Bistro pub nearby.

He said he went towards this pub and saw that “everybody started running” and there was screaming.

The eyewitness added that he saw three attackers, one of whom had a long knife and stabbing people, including a girl in her early 20s.

‘I saw someone being stabbed’

BBC Radio 5 live

Natalie and Ben were coming up to the entrance of the underground on Borough High Street when they saw lots of people running.

The married couple witnessed someone being stabbed.

Ben said: “I saw a man in red with quite a large blade, I don’t know the measurement I guess maybe 10 inches. He was stabbing a man…he stabbed him about three times fairly calmly.

“It looked the man had maybe been trying to intervene but there wasn’t much that he could do he was being stabbed quite coldly and he slumped to the ground.

The attacker and another man walked off quite “boldly”.

“A table was thrown, a bottle was thrown at the individual with the knife and then we heard three gunshots and we ran,” he added.

Trump to try run against Clinton’s Foundation?…WTF about HIS?..What about HIS Taxes?

The Trump campaign is really in another world….

Reports of them thinking of going negative against Hillary and Bill Clinton for their Foundation, which HAS moved money, aid, serives and supplies to those in need and NOT paid the Clinton is to be compared to Trump’s which has done little except PAY Trump and His Family seems a bit unbelievable …..

Donald Trump’s campaign is signaling that its new, post-first-debate message will be an attack on Hillary Clinton’s finances, under the catchphrase “Follow the money.” This is probably Trump’s most fruitful avenue of attack. The Clinton Foundation has created appearances of a conflict of interest, and the Clintons’ policy of accepting speaking fees from any source as long as the check would clear the bank has tarnished her image, and months of bashing at the hands of Bernie Sanders left her branded in the mind of many young liberals as a handmaiden of Wall Street.

And yet the notion that a voter ought to support Trump over Clinton on grounds of financial ethics or transparency is insane. Trump is corrupt on a world-historic scale. Andrew Prokop’s summary merely skims the surface of a career that has left hardly any rule or norm of business conduct un-violated. It is not only Trump’s history of misconduct, or even his ongoing abuse of his foundation for personal gain, but his astonishing promise, if elected, to continue to abuse his power to enrich himself by having his children manage his branded business that he will enhance via public office.

Even if none of that were true, it remains the case that Trump has shattered modern precedent by refusing to disclose his tax returns. How on Earth can a candidate run on the slogan “Follow the money” while stonewalling any questions about his own money? The only possible context in which this makes sense is a myopic, context-free focus on Clinton’s ethical shortcomings, combined with the assumption that Trump’s dangerous lunacy amounts to some kind of independence from big moneyed interests….

It appears that Trump’s foundation doesn’t have a license to solicit money….It has’t EVER had one ….

Donald Trump’s charitable foundation — which has been sustained for years by donors outside the Trump family — has never obtained the certification that New York requires before charities can solicit money from the public, according to the state attorney general’s office….

Attorney General Lynch will let staff have the final say on Clinton email server case…

Bill Clinton went to see the Attorney General at the Phoenix airport…

Both describe the meeting as causal and social…..

But Bill Clinton SHOULD have known better…..

His impulsiveness has forced Lynch to come out and announce that she will accept the recommendation of the career Justice Dept. lawyers and FBI in the Hillary Clinton email investigation….(She is STILL their boss and one would assume she is being briefed regualrly on the case)

UpDate...Bloomberg is reporting that Lynch , as the head of the Dept. of Justice , will NOT give up her ability to overrule a final call by her staff, if she feels it is necessary …Link….

Up to now the word has been that the FBI  and DOJ where NOT going after the former Sec of State…They have been talking to Clinton State Dept. staff members….The State Dept Inspector General has released his own report on the matter indicating that Clinton should have not used a private server for her mail, but that her actions wher not of a criminal nature ….

The whole issue of her server usage has become a last ditch Republican political effort to stop her efforts to get elected to the Presidency….

It had been rumored that the Justice Department was wrapping up the investigation within weeks…..

Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch plans to announce on Friday that she will accept whatever recommendation career prosecutors and the F.B.I. director make about whether to bring charges related to Hillary Clinton’s personal email server, a Justice Department official said. Her decision removes the possibility that a political appointee will overrule investigators in the case.

The Justice Department had been moving toward such an arrangement for months — officials said in April that it was being considered — but a private meeting between Ms. Lynch and former President Bill Clinton this week set off a political furor and made the decision all but inevitable.

Republicans said the meeting, which took place at the Phoenix airport, had compromised the independence of the investigation as the F.B.I. was winding it down. Some called for Ms. Lynch to recuse herself, but she did not take herself off the case — one that could influence a presidential election.

Ms. Lynch has said she wants to handle the Clinton investigation like any other case. Since the attorney general often follows the recommendations of career prosecutors, Ms. Lynch is keeping the regular process largely intact….

Results March 8 Tuesday 2016 Presidential Primaries….Trump (2)*, Sanders and Hillary split and Cruz gets Idaho…

But her support even among Democrats is NOT THAT strong…

She WILL need the Sanders base to come home to her….

In addition?

Hillary Clinton IS gonna have to find SOME WAY to cut into the MEDIA narrative that favors Donald Trump over EVERYTHING….And for FREE….

But so are Hillary Clinton’s and she’s a woman…..

It’s just his are HIGHER.

Make that THREE wins for the Donald…

He wins the Hawaii GOP Caucus contest also….

Hillary wins and has 3% climb in post debate poll….Update*

While Bernie Sanders’ people tries to spin his debate performance as better than Hillary Clinton….Pundits and THIS Dog felt from the jump that Hillary Clinton bested Bernie Sanders in the first Democratic 2016 Primary debate….

To be fair…..

Hillary Clinton was on the stage to show her ability to lead and to put the email and Benghazi stories behind her….

Bernie Sanders was on stage to get exposure and explain HIS dream for America…Not Policy….

The debate is certain to help BOTH Clinton and Sanders …..

But Clinton remains well ahead of Sanders in polling across the board and in every state except New Hampshire.  Hillary is even or only slightly behind Bernie in Iowa…

A majority believe Hillary Clinton won her party’s first debate on Tuesday, but the Democratic frontrunner received just a small bump in a poll from the perceived victory.

Fifty-six percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents saw Clinton as the winner, compared to 33 percent who thought Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) won, according to the NBC News/Survey Monkey survey released on Friday.

Only 3 percent, it added, believe the former secretary of State gave the worst showing during Tuesday night’s event.

Overall, the poll found Clinton with 45 percent support compared to 31 percent support for Sanders. That’s a three-percentage-point climb for Clinton, and a two-percent uptick for her main rival.

NBC News/Survey Monkey found that Sanders is making in-roads with young voters, nabbing 54 percent of those below age 30. Clinton, in contrast, receives 24 percent among that same voting bloc…..

The poll has a very large sample of 4,898 persons and very low MOE of 2%….

A 55 percent majority of registered Democratic voters who watched the debate said Clinton won. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who saw a surge in online interest and fundraising, was a distant second, with only 22 percent saying he was the best of the night.

Clinton also saw an uptick in the proportion of Democrats who say they want her to be the party’s presidential nominee. Before the debate, 44 percent of registered Democrats said they wanted Clinton to be the nominee. After the debate, the figure had risen to 52 percent.

That movement, however, is thanks to a lower percentage of undecided voters….

Elian Gonzalez would like to visit the US…

…from the Hill….

Elian Gonzalez, the young Cuban at the center of a high-profile international custody battle more than a decade ago, wants to return to the United States.

Gonzalez, now 21 and in college, said in an interview with ABC News aired Monday that, if he could visit anywhere in the world, it would be the United States to see a baseball game and visit museums in Washington as a tourist.

“To the American people, first, I say thank you for the love they give me,” Gonzalez told ABC News. “I want the time to give my love to American people.”

Gonzalez became a flashpoint in U.S.-Cuba relations, when he was found clinging to an inner tube off the coast of Florida. A raft he was traveling on with his mother and others from Cuba for the U.S. had capsized, drowning her and nearly a dozen others….
