There was an attempted terror attack last Friday on a U.S. airport, and no one is talking about it.

By RETIII  @ Daily Kos
The North Florida Survival Group teaches “patriots” of all ages to handle weapons and survive in the wild.

This is pretty amazing.  As explained by Shaun King at the Intercept, a terror attack on a U.S. airport was narrowly foiled just this past Friday:

On past Friday morning, at 12:39 a.m., security footage from the Asheville Regional Airport in North Carolina showed a man walking through the front doors wearing black clothing and a black cap, while carrying a bag. “Based on a review of the video, the individual walked near the entrance to the terminal, went out of sight momentarily, and was then seen departing the area without the bag,” according to the criminal complaint.

Following the Transportation Security Administration’s protocols, airport security allowed a bomb dog to sniff the bag for explosives and the dog signaled to the team the presence of dangerous materials in the bag. The concourse was then shut down. The street leading to the airport was shut down. And Asheville Regional Airport officials found themselves in a dangerous emergency situation.

What investigators eventually found in the bag was AN/FO (Ammonium Nitrate/Fuel Oil) explosives that, according to the criminal complaint, have been used “in a number of terrorist-related incidents around the world. When AN/FO comes into contact with a flame or other ignition source it explodes violently. Nails or ball bearings are often items added to the device so as to increase the devastation inflicted by the explosion.”

This bomb was meant to cause multiple deaths:

In fact, sharp nails and bullets were found in this improvised explosive device. Whoever built it designed the bomb to cause horrific bodily harm. Before disarming it, authorities discovered that the alarm attached to it was scheduled to go off at 6:00 a.m. that morning just as a fresh round of travelers was scheduled to arrive at the airport.

The man who planted it, it turns out, openly admitted to authorities that he was “preparing to fight a war on U.S. soil” and that this bomb was but one part of that war.

Holy cow!  Where is the wall-to-wall media coverage?  Why hasn’t President Trump been tweeting about this?  How is this story uncovered?

Well, as Shaun King points out, the answer appears to be because the bomber — who has been arrested — is not Muslim.  No, he is a White guy.  A militia type who wanted to kill Americans and start a war on U.S soil….

Hillary Clinton touts Her Experience on Terrorism

Donald Trump has None…..

Hillary Clinton held a brief press conference Monday morning to make clear she had the resolve, temperament, and plan to deal with terrorist attacks like those in New Jersey and Minnesota over the weekend.

“I’m the only candidate…who has been part of the hard decisions to take terrorists off the battlefield,” she said.

Speaking in an airplane hangar with her waiting campaign plane in the background, Clinton reacted to the reports that the suspect in the bombing in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood was of Afghan descent and that ISIS had claimed responsibility for the attacks in St. Cloud, Minnesota, by reminding Americans that one group of people or religion cannot be held responsible for the actions of a few radicalized individuals.

“[L]et us remember, there are millions and millions of naturalized citizens in America from all over the world. There are millions of law-abiding peaceful Muslim Americans,” Clinton said.

She then, in a calm, deliberate voice, outlined her plan for dealing with the “lone wolf threat,” including more open partnerships with Silicon Valley in order to thwart ISIS recruiting online….

Clinton’s comments, demeanor, and attention to detail stood in stark relief to Republican candidate Donald Trump’s remarks early Monday morning….

Nice, Paris and Brussel’s type attacks WILL continue…

The world gets to see another horrific attack in Nice, France…

This after mass incidents of violence around the planet including Dallas Texas…

They will continue…

We ALL want our leaders to make these things go away….

They won’t…

No amount of intelligence…

No amount of checkpoints…

No amount of much of anything will stop someone intent upon harming others….

It actually ALWAYS been that way….

But now with the communications we have ?

Everyone KNOWSabout these things instantly….

This does NOT mean we should NOT try our best to prevent these things…

This does NOT mean they make us feel like they make sense….

They are aimed to hurt….

They do…

But we MUST keep steady in what we BELIEVE in to be right…

We must NOT let these things bring a reaction that would lock all of us away from each other…

We must in the end continue to be the Great nation we are…..

And help one another get past the hate others want us to have…

The Brussels terrorist attack, just as the related attack in Paris, shows many things, some more important than others.

First and foremost, it shows that terrorism is the new normal for Western Europe, at least for now. Citizens and politicians should acknowledge, rather than simply accept, this. To be clear, this is not the first time this is the case — think of the extreme left terrorism of the 1970s or the decades-long terrorist campaigns of separatist organizations like ETA in Spain and the IRA in the United Kingdom. The main difference is that terrorism is now affecting more countries and more people.

Second, the attacks prove that even the strongest emergency and security measures cannot make a (democratic) society 100 percent safe! Both Brussels and Paris are cities on the highest state of alert, fully aware they are prime targets of Jihadist terrorists, and were nevertheless hit.

Third, although some terrorist attacks have caused massive destruction of lives and property, most show at best a modest level of organization – hence the almost exclusive use of soft targets. While this makes the terrorists generally less lethal, it also makes them even harder to detect….

Attack in Orlando leaves 50 dead…53 wounded…

In a action that lasted for 3 hours….

A Muslin man born in New York walked into a popular gay club in Orlando Florida and ended up killing 50 of the people inside and wounding another 53 before police ended the standoff….

(Officals are cautioning that some injuries could have been the result of law eneforcement actions)

The subject had been investigated by the FBI 3 years ago after speaking about terrorist ties, but was not deemed a threat…He worked in Florida as a security guard , which enabled him to purchase guns legally….The subject had open talked about his hatre of jews, blacks , women and gays….The subject had been in a abusive marruage which resulted in a divorce ….

It was the worst act of terrorism on American soil since Sept. 11, 2001, and the deadliest attack on a gay target in the nation’s history, though officials said it was not clear whether some victims had been accidentally shot by law enforcement officers.

Gov. Rick Scott of Florida said on Monday that he had asked President Obama to issue a federal emergency declaration for his state.

“Yesterday’s terror attack was an attack on our state and entire nation,” Mr. Scott said in a statement. “This morning, I have asked President Obama to declare an emergency so that the full resources of the federal government can be made available for all those impacted by this horrific massacre.”

In a letter to Mr. Obama, Mr. Scott sought two forms of federal aid: “provision of health and safety measures,” as well as “management, control and reduction of immediate threats to public health and safety.” An emergency declaration by Mr. Obama would give Florida up to $5 million in initial federal funding…..

Note…

The incident has reopened the terror and gun issues….Law Enforecenmet has NOT found any direct connection to terror groups now or before …so far…There is a clear anti-gay part to the incident though…

The politican’s have also weighed in the incident in terms of terrorism….

It sure looks like this was HATE CRIME more than ANYTHING else….

Would the American Military follow a Trump order to kill terrorists families?

Former  CIA Director Michael Hayden says NO…..

In a Q & A with HBO’s Bill Maher  Hayden explained that such actions avocated by Trump was off bounds for the Americanb military and intelligence people(For obvious personal reasons)….

That Donald Trump would seek to do so if he was elected President could give American forces a pause and maybe even a moral reason to NOT go thru with such action….

Appearing on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” to promote his latest book, Hayden expressed concern about Trump’s language, including the Manhattan real-estate magnate’s vow to bring back waterboarding and worse because “they deserve it.”

“I would be incredibly concerned if a President Trump governed in a way that was consistent with the way that candidate Trump expressed during the campaign,” Hayden said.

Maher brought up Trump’s pledge to kill family members of Islamic State terrorists. “That never even occurred to you, right?” Maher deadpanned.

“God, no!” Hayden exclaimed. “Let me give you a punchline: If he were to order that once in government, the American armed forces would refuse to act.”

President Obama is out with a last ditch try to close Guantanamo Bay detainee center…

I say last ditch because it’s chances of gaining the votes in Congress are slim to none…

Obama KNOWS that….

Butr he’s making sure in this effort to hang the inability for him to do  produce on an old campaign promise on the doorstep of the Republicans in a Presidential campaign year….

The White House on Tuesday provided lawmakers a new roadmap for closing the military detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as President Obama seeks to finally deliver on his vow to shutter a prison that became a symbol of the excesses following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The administration’s blueprint, which provides some detail on the White House’s plan to move dozens of prisoners to the mainland United States for trial or detention, faces significant opposition in Congress.

“It’s time to bring this chapter of American history to a close,” a senior administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity ahead of remarks later this morning by President Obama, told reporters.

Previewing the plan, officials said the document submitted to Congress outlined costs associated with housing prisoners in facilities within the United States. Officials said 30 to 60 detainees were expected to be brought to U.S. facilities if the plan is approved. Some of those would continue through slow-moving military commissions; others would likely be detained indefinitely without trial.

The Obama administration is also resettling overseas other prisoners, who are deemed to pose little security risk.

In order to move forward with its closure plan, Congress would have to alter current law, which now prohibits the administration from spending any money on bringing detainees to the United States….

Trump….Report your neighbors….

Of course everyone should aware of what happens on their block….

But I don’t think that’s what Donald trump is talking about…….

“The real greatest resource is all of you, because you have all those eyes and you see what’s happening,” he told listeners in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

“People move into a house a block down the road, you know who’s going in,” Trump continued. “You can see and you report them to the local police.

“You’re pretty smart, right?” he asked his audience. “We know if there’s something going on, report them. Most likely you’ll be wrong, but that’s OK.”

“That’s the best way. Everybody’s their own cop in a way. You’ve got to do it. You’ve got to do it.”

Trump’s remarks expand on his recent calls for surveillance of America’s mosques for potential terrorism…..

The Republicans DID want to reach out for more ‘different’ people, Right?

Reince Priebus, the guy running the Republican National Committee, spend money after the GOPer’s lost to Barack Obama the second time to find out what the party should do to fix the problem within his party…..

The answer came back…..

Widen your base….

151121_heilbrunn_trump_gty.jpg

That was music to Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio’s ears, since they had , at the time, idea’s about immigration that would appeal to Latinos…..

THAT was all good…..

Then….

The guy leading the Republican’s efforts to get back into the White House is now an businessman/entertainer, who has been a registered Democrat, twice, an Independent and now claims to be a Republican…for the second time…..

Worst than THAT?

He’s pumping up his numbers by thumbing his nose at the GOP elite and establishment types and running on what seems like a cloaked racist policy line…..

Time and again this Dog has called him fading out….

But as soon as he gets up and spews his insults against women, latinos, muslims or anyone else that doesn’t agree with him….He get MAX media coverag and his polling numbers climb….

Hidden away in the same numbers is the fact that his support is weak and that against Hillary Clinton, who will be the Democratic Party choice….He’d probably lose….

So Mr Priebus and his guys have been reduced to standing on the sidelines as his report and it’s conclusions about increasing the parties base gets buried by the new P.T. Barnum of 2015….(Running a circus on anger and fear as the main attraction’s)….with the Ring Master as…….

One Donald Trump…..

Hillary Clinton probably can’t be more happy everyday…..

Obama was right that ISIS is “contained”…But they aren’t stopped…..

As the ISIS people ARE boxed in with battlefield loses?

They will resort to a different fight….

On Thursday, one day before terrorists who appear to have been linked to ISIS launched a series of devastating attacks across Paris, President Obama went on ABC and made a comment that now looks pretty bad:

What is true is that from the start, our goal has been first to contain, and we have contained them.

In the wake of Paris, it looked to many like Obama had badly overhyped his administration’s efforts against ISIS. At Saturday’s Democratic presidential debate, moderator John Dickerson asked Hillary Clinton if the quote meant that the Obama administration’s legacy will be “that it underestimated the threat from ISIS.”

Obama’s comments don’t look quite as bad in context. Rather, as PolitiFact points out, Obama was saying that ISIS’s territorial expansion in the Middle East has been contained — that, partly as a result of US actions, its march across Syria and Iraq had been halted. That’s both a much more modest claim and factually correct.

“The statement is, in the context of the interview … almost entirely correct,” Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, a senior fellow at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, told me.

But as the Paris attacks show, that in itself is hardly cause for triumphalism. And it’s not necessarily a coincidence that this attack occurred as ISIS has been losing ground in Syria and Iraq. Perversely, the world’s success in containing ISIS territorially actually makes the group more dangerous internationally, at least in the short term.

Some analysts worry that as ISIS suffers battlefield losses, it may shift more of its energy away from the battlefield and into international terror attacks like what happened in Paris……

America has More problems with Homebased attack’s than Jidhadis

We see media reports about the Fed’s looking across the oceans for militant Jidhadis that might come here to do violent acts…

But the reality is that local and state cops are ALREADY dealing with home-based attacks by americans with increasing regularity…

In the 14 years since Al Qaeda carried out attacks on New York and the Pentagon, extremists have regularly executed smaller lethal assaults in the United States, explaining their motives in online manifestoes or social media rants.

But the breakdown of extremist ideologies behind those attacks may come as a surprise. Since Sept. 11, 2001, nearly twice as many people have been killed by white supremacists, antigovernment fanatics and other non-Muslim extremists than by radical Muslims: 48 have been killed by extremists who are not Muslim, compared with 26 by self-proclaimed jihadists, according to a count by New America, a Washington research center.

The slaying of nine African-Americans in a Charleston, S.C., church last week, with an avowed white supremacist charged with their murders, was a particularly savage case. But it is only the latest in a string of lethal attacks by people espousing racial hatred, hostility to government and theories such as those of the “sovereign citizen” movement, which denies the legitimacy of most statutory law. The assaults have taken the lives of police officers, members of racial or religious minorities and random civilians….

Good News about Iraq?…Not from the Media….

The Iraqi Prime Minister is in Washington looking for money and support…..

Things HAVE been going against the Islamic State tees days….

But the media doesn’t think THAT point is what they want to report much….

“We think we’ve made a lot more meaningful progress against ISIL in Iraq than most people realize,” said a senior administration official.

The argument, articulated in an address last week by Vice President Joe Biden, reflects months of White House frustration with the media’s coverage of the campaign against ISIL. It is also a calculated gamble by an administration that was burned by its overly rosy assessments of Iraq after U.S. troops left the country in 2011.

Claims that America’s fight against ISIL has “has stalled, has been stalemated” are wrong, insisted Biden in an address at the National Defense University on Thursday. “The claims do not reflect the circumstances on the ground.”

Also joining the argument is the military: At a Monday briefing, a Pentagon spokesman displayed a map showing that ISIL has lost up to 30 percent of the territory it once controlled.

Some outside analysts are sympathetic, noting that setbacks in Iraq usually draw more media coverage than gains.

But they warn that, despite some recent tactical successes, the country remains in a dire state. ISIL still holds Iraq’s second-largest city, Mosul, and is fiercely battling Iraqi forces just 75 miles west of Baghdad. The group continues to threaten the Iraqi government’s survival, officials concede.
Some analysts worry that a temptation to focus on short-term gains for media consumption could distract U.S. officials from a larger struggle that will take years.

“I’m a firm believer in giving them credit when they do the right thing,” said Kenneth Pollack, a former CIA analyst at the Brookings Institution who tracks Iraq closely. “But it does infuriate me when the Obama administration does a little bit of good — and then they want a ticker tape parade,” he added.

ISIL has suffered some setbacks at the hands of U.S. and Iraqi forces in recent weeks…..

President Obama vows to “degrade and ultimately destroy” the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant …

The President of Unite States gave’m what they wanted…..

A Rally cry to understand the fight that this country is mounting to go after the Islamic State of Iraq….

The President made clear that political borders will not stop his effort….

He also advised that he has and is working on other countries to join the fight to rout the ISIS/ISIL forces…..

He explained that America will not use combat troops, but would rely on airstrikes (Other countries will join) but then advised that the US WOULD be sending ‘advisors’ to help the Iraqi’s and others confront the Islamic State forces….

Make no mistake…

No matter HOW President barack H. Obama dresses this up as a fight against terrorism….

This IS a war against a religious based group that is in the process of setting up their own state on the property of Iraq and Syria…

And for third time since September 11, 2001?

America mounts up for action in the Middle East on the Anniversary of that date 13 years later…

President Barack Obama on Wednesday outlined a U.S.-led coalition’s plans to “degrade and ultimately destroy” the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant through airstrikes and support for Syria’s opposition, stressing to a weary nation that he is not leading the nation into another war.

“I want the American people to understand how this effort will be different from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Obama said from the State Floor of the White House in a rare primetime speech. “It will not involve American combat troops fighting on foreign soil.”

Rather, it is a “counter-terrorism campaign” that “will be waged through a steady, relentless effort to take out ISIL wherever they exist using our air power and our support for partner forces on the ground,” he said. It’s a “strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us, while supporting partners on the front lines,” the same targeted strategy that the United States has been using in Yemen and Somalia.

The battle against ISIL will not be limited by political borders, Obama said. “I will not hesitate to take action against ISIL in Syria, as well as Iraq. This is a core principle of my presidency: if you threaten America, you will find no safe haven.”

Coming as the coalition takes shape and prepares to go on the offensive, the president’s primetime speech is an opportunity for him to explain his administration’s strategy to the American people and to ask for “buy in” from Congress, whether in the form of funding for the effort or with a bill authorizing its actions, which senior administration officials say they do not believe is necessary but would not object to seeing lawmakers pass.

The United States plans to lead a “broad coalition to roll back this terrorist threat” with a clear objective, to “degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL through a comprehensive and sustained counter-terrorism strategy.”

The ramping up of U.S. military involvement in the Middle East is a major shift for Obama, who advocated for ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan since before his campaign for president. It comes a year after the president flirted with engagement in Syria against the regime of Bashar al-Assad for using chemical weapons, only to run into congressional opposition.

A year later, Obama’s attention is again turned towards Syria, but at defeating ISIL, a group that branched off from al Qaeda in Iraq, and that, according to administration officials, poses a great threat to Iraq, Syria and Americans in the region.

In a televised speech from the State Floor of the White House, Mr. Obama said the United States was recruiting a global coalition to “degrade and ultimately destroy” the militants, from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. He warned that the effort would require years of sustained effort.

“We will hunt down terrorists who threaten our country, wherever they are,” Mr. Obama said. “That means I will not hesitate to take action against ISIL in Syria, as well as Iraq. This is a core principle of my presidency: If you threaten America, you will find no safe haven.” ISIL is an alternative name for ISIS.

The president took pains to distinguish between the military action he was putting in motion and the two wars begun by his predecessor, President George W. Bush. He likened this campaign to the targeted airstrikes that the United States has carried out for several years against suspected terrorists in Yemen and Somalia, few of them ever made public…..

The President asks for $5 Billion to help fund anti-terror efforts around the globe….

The President has just asked for this in his West Point Graduation speech on dealing with terrorism….

The United States is setting up a $5 billion “terrorism partnership fund” to help other countries push back against radical extremists, President Obama  will announce  Wednesday [today].

In his commencement address at West Point, Obama will ask Congress to support a new Counterterrorism Partnerships Fund (CTPF), a White House release said.

“It will allow us to pursue a more sustainable and effective approach to combating terrorism that focuses on empowering and enabling our partners around the globe,” the release said.
The fund is intended to help the Defense Department more effectively bolster U.S. allies’ counterterrorism efforts and to help the State Department combat terrorist ideology.

To create the fund, the White House said the administration will seek up to $5 billion in its fiscal 2015 request for Overseas Contingency Operations.

The NSA Data….The Temptation to use it for ‘other’ things….

Good Point…..

There are NO guaranttee’s that a future White House and Congress could open the flood gates to the info for other uses besides ‘terrorism’…..

A recent Atlantic essay asks, somewhat facetiously, “If PRISM is so good, why stop with terrorism?” The author’s point was to discuss the value of the Fourth Amendment, even if it makes the police less efficient. But it’s actually a very good question. Once the NSA’s ubiquitous surveillance of all Americans is complete — once it has the ability to collect and process all of our emails, phone calls, text messages, Facebook posts, location data, physical mail, financial transactions, and who knows what else — why limit its use to cases of terrorism? I can easily imagine a public groundswell of support to use to help solve some other heinous crime, like a kidnapping. Or maybe a child-pornography case. From there, it’s an easy step to enlist NSA surveillance in the continuing war on drugs; that’s certainly important enough to warrant regular access to the NSA’s databases. Or maybe to identify illegal immigrants. After all, we’ve already invested in this system, we might as well get as much out of it as we possibly can. Then it’s a short jump to the trivial examples suggested in the Atlantic essay: speeding and illegal downloading. This “slippery slope” argument is largely speculative, but we’ve already started down that incline.

Criminal defendants are starting to demand access to the NSA data that they believe will exonerate themselves. How can a moral government refuse this request?

10 Years after 9/11 2001….New York City and the World will remember…..

It is with a heavy heart that I will get thru September 11, 2011…

For I knew personally some of the people who did not come home from that days events…

For that day 10 years ago my job was to comfort the children on the people who worked in New York City…

On that day my contribution was to assure those worried that their children were in a safe place….

I am happy to One World Trade Center rebuilt….

I spent passing time in the old one….

I pass on my prays to people who lost loved ones on that day in three locations in America…

I pray for strength for the people who have to live with their loses…

And I hope that while some of us may complain about the coasts…

I can only hope that our Government and it’s actor will spare nothing to do what ever they can to make sure that

NOTHING

like this will EVER happen again….

Amen…..

The Dog…..

From the New York Times…..

By MICHAEL HOWARD SAUL

New York City will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with a ceremony at the World Trade Center site on Sunday, when the nation pauses to grieve for the dead and reflect on the decade since terrorists toppled the Twin Towers, damaged the Pentagon and crashed a jetliner in rural Pennsylvania.

President Barack Obama and his predecessor, former President George W. Bush, will be among the eight current or former elected officials to deliver readings at the ceremony, which is set to begin at 8:35 a.m. with the sound of bagpipes and drummers. Mr. Obama, the first sitting president to attend the annual ceremony, gave the green light earlier this year for the military mission that killed Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the deadliest foreign attack on American soil.

While most of the attention will focus on New York’s ceremony, there will also be events at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania, plus many smaller observances in communities across the country, from a stair climb in Seattle to a 9/11 memorial dedication in Sarasota, Fla.

On Saturday in Shanksville, Pa., the 40 passengers and crew who fought back against their hijackers aboard Flight 93 before it crashed on Sept. 11 were honored for their heroism in a ceremony dedicating the first phase of a memorial at the nation’s newest national park, the Associated Press reported.

The hijackers intended to crash the plane in Washington but “never made it because of the determination and valor of the passengers and crew of Flight 93, that plane crashed in this field, less than 20 minutes by air” from the target, said Jon Jarvis, director of the National Park Service, according to the AP.

Vice President Joe Biden and former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were among those attending the Shanksville event, the AP said.

The 10th anniversary also marks the official opening of the National September 11 Memorial—twin reflecting pools that sit within the footprints of the Twin Towers and feature bronze panels on which the names of the dead are inscribed. A 9/11 museum is scheduled to open at the World Trade Center site next September.

“As we reflect back on the past, let us remember not only the agony and anguish of the attacks but how we channeled our pain into something positive and powerful,” New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Tuesday in a speech about the rebirth of Lower Manhattan. “Let us remember not only how the towers fell, but how we rose up—determined to defend our freedoms.”
