Boston Red Sox are looking for a new manager …

Image result for john farrell

Over five years, John Farrell emerged as one of the most successful managers in Red Sox history, winning a World Series and becoming the first to win three AL East titles. Yet on Tuesday night, one day after the Red Sox had been dismissed in an AL Division Series for the second straight year (this time by the Astros in four games), they elected to fire Farrell.

President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski recommended the firing, and ownership supported the decision. The prevailing theme among team officials was that the organization simply had arrived at a point where it seemed change would be beneficial moving forward.

“You weigh a lot of different things that become involved, and to me, I thought it was the appropriate time to make a change for the betterment of the organization moving forward,” said Dombrowski, who declined to detail those considerations….

Phil Jackson leaves the NY Knicks….

The thrill is gone from Jackson’s Rep….

The New York Knicks and team president Phil Jackson announced Wednesday morning that they mutually agreed to part ways.

“After careful thought and consideration, we mutually agreed that the Knicks will be going in a different direction,” Knicks owner James Dolan said via statement. “Phil Jackson is one of the most celebrated and successful individuals in the history of the NBA. His legacy in the game of basketball is unmatched. We wish him the best and thank him for his service to the Knicks as both a player and an executive.”

Conversations about what was best for the team’s future between Jackson and Dolan accelerated this week when the franchise decided it would not buy out embattled forward Carmelo Anthony, sources said.

Jackson, 71, had made it well known that he felt it was best for Anthony and the organization to part ways, both publicly and privately, but Anthony refused to waive his no-trade clause, and the Knicks were determined not to accommodate any request for a buyout. Anthony has two years worth more than $54 million remaining on his deal…..

Sailing 35th America’s Cup: Emirates Team New Zealand goes up 3-0 over Oracle Team USA after Day 2

Evening all!
Image result for america's cup
Have you seen the 2013 America’s Cup? 2017 is sounding awfully familiar maybe even more precarious for the Defender Oracle Team USA.
Emirates Team New Zealand took another 2 wins from 2 Races on Sunday to stretch their lead to 3-0 over the Americans. More importantly: They are now only 4 Wins away from bringing the oldest Trophy in International Sport back to the Sailing-crazy Nation of New Zealand.
Nothing really to be told from the Races on Sunday. The Kiwis just outraced the Americans, quite simple.
Read it all here:
My Thoughts
Unless Spithill & his gang pull another houdini on New Zealand I don’t see how they can win. I think the Cup goes back to New Zealand.

Sailing: Day One of the America’s Cup Qualifiers postponed due to too strong winds

Evening all!
Day 1 of the America’s Cup Qualifiers has been postponed due to too much wind according to Event Organizers….
Royal Naval Dockyard (BDA) - 35th America's Cup Bermuda 2017 - Last training week for the 35th America's Cup
The America’s Cup Event Authority (ACEA), and America’s Cup Race Management (ACRM), have announced that the strong winds in Bermuda has meant that day one of the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Qualifiers and the Official Opening Ceremony of the 35th America’s Cup has had to be postponed.
Forecasts indicate that winds may gust over 30 knots during the afternoon and evening, so with the safety of the sailors and spectators as the key priority, ACEA and ACRM have decided to postpone Friday’s events. Saturday 27th May and the days following are all forecast to have significantly improved weather conditions, so the four races scheduled to take place on Friday 26th May will now be added to the race schedules for the subsequent days.
The Official Opening Ceremony of the 35th America’s Cup will now take place on Saturday 27th May, starting at 8.30pm, following the three time Grammy award winning entertainer Wyclef Jean’s performance on the Main Stage in the America’s Cup Village at 5.15pm. The America’s Cup Village will close at 9.30pm. Gates open at 11.30am on Saturday, with racing due to take place between 2pm and 5pm.
Sir Russell Coutts, CEO of the ACEA, said, “We are obviously disappointed that the strong winds mean we have had to postpone day one of the 35th America’s Cup. This is clearly a decision we have not taken lightly and appreciate the inconvenience caused to the sellout crowd. Our primary concern however, is always safety for everyone involved in the America’s Cup. We are adding an hour to the race window on both Saturday and Sunday to run extra races with the aim of getting back on schedule. There are still tickets available at the weekend, although not in all categories, so we are hoping Friday’s ticket holders will still get the chance to enjoy what should be an incredible opening weekend.”
So, we will try again tomorrow at 1pm ET / 2pm Local Time. However instead of 4 Races we will have 6 Races.
Race 1: Oracle Team USA v Groupama Team France
Race 2: Artemis Racing v SoftBank Team Japan
Race 3: Groupama Team France v Emirates Team New Zealand
Race 4: Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing v Artemis Racing
Race 5: Emirates Team New Zealand v Oracle Team USA
Race 6: Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing v SoftBank Team Japan

The Cleveland Cav’s will play the Golden State Warriors for the NBA Championship…

Boston lost , as expected , to Lebron and the Cav’s 135 to 103 in game 5 of the semi-finals…

The first of the finals series games is June 1st @ 9:00PM  on ABC….

Boston, MA May 25, 2017: The Cavaliers LeBron James backs down the Celtics Terry Rozier in the first half. The Boston Celtics hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers for Game Five of their NBA Eastern Conference Finals playoff series at the TD Garden (Globe Staff Photo/Jim Davis)

The Celtics started this season with hope and optimism and a belief they would be capable of joining the league’s elite. They returned most of the young core from last year’s 48-win team and then added four-time All-Star Al Horford and the draft’s No. 3 overall pick, Jaylen Brown.

And, in a sense, they did ascend to the top tier. They won 53 games, secured the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, and then surged into the conference finals with home-court advantage against the Cavaliers.

But then this series served as a cold, hard reminder that there is still a sizable gap between the Celtics and the top.

Cleveland obliterated Boston in the first two games at TD Garden, and even though the Celtics were able to steal a win in Cleveland, the Cavaliers treated it more as a hiccup than a reason for concern.

In Game 5 on Thursday, the Cavaliers stomped on the Celtics early and did not lift their feet until they felt like it, as they coasted to a 135-102 win that was just as thorough as it appears….

Boston Celtics vs Cleveland Cavaliers….2017 NBA Basketball East Championship Series…

NBA East finals Wednesday May 17th….

Late in the fourth quarter, after his 3-pointer put the Boston Celtics out front by double digits, the TD Garden faithful celebrated Kelly Olynyk‘s improbable Game 7 performance by chanting his name.

“Kelly! Kelly! Kelly!”

Isaiah Thomas talked for the previous 72 hours about how legends were born in Game 7. But on a night that both Thomas and Bradley Beal were spectacular, it was Boston’s 7-foot backup center who somehow stole the show.

Olynyk scored 12 of his career playoff high 26 points over a three-and-a-half-minute stretch of the fourth quarter as the Celtics emerged with a 115-105 triumphover the Washington Wizards in Game 7 of an Eastern Conference semifinal series at TD Garden.

Boston is headed back to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2012. The top-seeded Celtics host the second-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 on Wednesday night at TD Garden….

I REALLY see Cleveland playing the Warriors for the championship rings my self…

Closing in on a 2 Hour Marathon Run…

The goal for elite runners is just about in reach….

Nike sneakers is helping for the record and of course the sales….

Some people aren’t happy with HOW this latest effort at the 2 hour record was done…

Even in a highly controlled environment, the sub-two-hour marathon remains elusive — just barely.

Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya, 32, the reigning Olympic marathon champion, covered 26.2 miles in 2 hours 25 seconds early on Saturday in an extremely managed setting of pacing and drafting on a Formula One racecourse in Monza, Italy, outside Milan.

It was the fastest marathon ever run, more than two and a half minutes quicker than the official world record, 2:02:57, set by Dennis Kimetto of Kenya at the 2014 Berlin Marathon. But Kipchoge’s time will not be ratified for record purposes, mainly because of rules regarding pace-setting.

The attempt, called Breaking2, was as much a Nike marketing play and a laboratory experiment as a sports competition. Even so, Kipchoge shaved a remarkable amount of time off his best official finish: 2:03:05 at the 2016 London Marathon.

Saturday’s attempt was viewed by some critics as a publicity stunt rather than a valid sporting contest, emphasizing audacious performance over competition. It came weeks before Nike was set to roll out a new line of running shoes.

“I believe that this has everything to do with shoe sales and very little to do with marathoning,” Kevin Hanson, a top American marathon coach, told Runner’s World this week.

Others were intrigued by the attempt — albeit greatly orchestrated — to redefine the limits of human endurance. There was plenty of curiosity about whether the latest advances in sports science and technology could help a runner break the barrier years or decades earlier than many had predicted….

Nike Air Jordan 1 “Royal’s” are available….

,,,from Nice Kicks….

-> Air Jordan 1 “Royal” For Sale <-

The Air Jordan 1 retro returns in “Royal” colorway for the first time since 2013 and is highly anticipated since it is the first time since Jordan Brand launched the Remastered Retro program in 2015.  The Air Jordan 1 “Royal” 2017 release featured the softest leather ever on the colorway since its 1985 debut release including tumbled royal leather.

The historic significance of the Air Jordan 1 Royal runs deep to the heritage of the Air Jordan line. The Royals were the first colorway to release in the Jordan lineup that had no tie to any team that Michael Jordan played on at any level. Despite the Air Jordan 1 being a staple in the retro line for years, the “Royal” Air Jordan 1s have only returned a total of three times since 1985 in high top form – 2001, 2013, and today in 2017….

March Madness Mens College Basketball gets down to the Final Four…

A LOT people have taken abuse on their bracket guesses as SEC teams rise to the top for the first time in the finals….

The 79th Final Four has been set. The national semifinals, in Glendale, Ariz., on Saturday, will feature South Carolina versus Gonzaga and Oregon versus North Carolina. The winners will play for the N.C.A.A. championship the following Monday night.

It is an unusual field. The tournament had a dearth of upsets in the first weekend — the final group of 16 teams comprised 12 of the top 16 seeds. But there are two programs, seventh-seeded South Carolina and top-seeded Gonzaga, in their first Final Four, a dual debut of a type that last happened in 1996. And Oregon, a No. 3 seed, had advanced this far only once before — in the first tournament, in 1939, which the Ducks won.

In a sport dominated by marquee programs, there is just one blue blood, North Carolina, which will make its 20th trip to the Final Four.

This year’s Final Four, which will be played farther west than it has been in more than 20 years, will feature two teams from west of the Mississippi River for the first time since 2008, and two teams from the Pacific time zone for the first time ever.

But beyond these fun facts, what do these teams reveal about how to build a champion?…..
