The Russian efforts to subvert the American President is becoming clearer…

It is becoming increasing clear that in end when Robert Mueller presents his final report Americans and the world will probably be presented with the view of an Russina full blow effort to subvert the American President into an asset for their use….

We know that Russina President knew that such an effort would never work with Hillary Clinton, who was a former Secretary of State and whose husband had been President for eight years….

But a New York Real Estate guy, who owed monety to Russian’s and who liked the adoration that could thrown on him in trips to Moscow?…He was, and appear’s to have been an easy mark….

And STILL is trying to cuddle up to the Russian President…

One can come to no other conclusion as the steady reports of the Russian contact’s become public…

In addition, Mueller is bound to produce charges from his garnd juries against just about EVERYBODY who has sat down with his FBI agents and prosecutors and lied about this…..That is sure to include Donald Trump’s son, Donald Jr. and Jared Kushner….

The President is sure to write pardon’s for the those two….

But it will remain to be seen if the New York State Attorney General will or has impaneled his own grand jury to go after the Trump family and others where the pardon’s don’t count….

A senior Russian official who claimed to be acting at the behest of President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia tried in May 2016 to arrange a meeting between Mr. Putin and Donald J. Trump, according to several people familiar with the matter.

The news of this reached the Trump campaign in a very circuitous way. An advocate for Christian causes emailed campaign aides saying that Alexander Torshin, the deputy governor of the Russian central bank who has been linked both to Russia’s security services and organized crime, had proposed a meeting between Mr. Putin and Mr. Trump. The subject line of the email, turned over to Senate investigators, read, “Russian backdoor overture and dinner invite,” according to one person who has seen the message.

The proposal made its way to the senior levels of the Trump campaign before Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and a top campaign aide, sent a message to top campaign officials rejecting it, according to two people who have seen Mr. Kushner’s message.

Though the meeting never happened, Mr. Torshin’s request is the latest example of how the Russian government intensified its effort to contact and influence the Trump campaign last year as Mr. Trump was closing in on the Republican presidential nomination. It came just weeks after a self-described intermediary for the Russian government told a Trump campaign aide, George Papadopoulos, that the Russians had “dirt” on Mr. Trump’s rival, Hillary Clinton, in the form of “thousands of emails.”

Soon after Mr. Torshin’s outreach fizzled, Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, arranged a meeting at Trump Tower after being told that a Russian lawyer with ties to the Kremlin would bring damaging information about Mrs. Clinton to the meeting….

Trump AGAIN says he’ll belive’s Putin over the American Intel community…

Continuing  his view from last year, even as the President of the United States?

Donald Trump takes the word of the Russina President that his people did NOT get involved in last years elections…

There is CONCRETE  evidence that agents and associates of the Russian government in fact DID use SEVERAL methods and sources to pass on information and rig on line datta to help HIM in his campaign against Hillary Clinton….

The Robert Mueller and Congressional investigation’s have the proof , which has come out in bits and piece’s….

The source’s involved where close staff memebers and even family memebers of Trump….

But we DO know that Donald Trump DOES tend rearrange reality to fit HIS way of thinking…

So if an ex-KGB Director Russian guy running a country says the planet is flat ?

Donald J. Trump is inclined to believe it…

(George W. Bush though Putin was a guy he could ‘work with’…He was wrong….)

He’s been fighting against the American government for a LONG time, eh?

“He said he didn’t meddle,” Trump said, answering questions in the press cabin on the Air Force One. “I asked him again. You can only ask so many times. … He said he absolutely did not meddle in our election. He did not do what they are saying he did.”

U.S. intelligence agencies have said Russian hackers stole thousands of emails from the Democratic National Committee and made them public, also spreading misinformation in an attempt to help Trump beat Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Trump, however, has said he does not believe that Russia actively sought to help him….

Of course there is another reason Trump is inclined to want to admit the Russian’s helped him….

In doing so he would admitting that he did NOT beat  Hillary Clinton far and square on his own…

His ego comes out when anybody questions how, or if he actually won the job….

Or the pasrt about her getting almost 3 MILLION more votes than him, eh?

CIA director stands by intel community assessment Russia meddled in election

CIA Director Mike Pompeo stands by US intelligence assessments that Russia meddled in the 2016 election, the agency said Saturday, despite President Donald Trump saying he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin when he says his country didn’t interfere.

“The Director stands by and has always stood by the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment entitled: Assessing Russian Activities and Intentions in Recent U.S. Elections,” the CIA said in a statement. “The intelligence assessment with regard to Russian election meddling has not changed.”…

What if Nothing Happens after Mueller can prove Trump and Co. committed crimes?…Open Thread for 11/3/17

Vox is out with a piece that asks a question that SHOULD be asked….

Image result for mueller/Trump/ryan

What happens if the Republican majority in the House are MORE afraid of losing their jobs by voting to impeach a guy who 60% of America doesn’t approve, of and 49% are all right if they do bring him up on charges…… BUT….60% of Republicans do approve of the guy, not caring about his politics , or that he can remember what he said ten minutes ago …(Most American actually don’t seem to care about these doings because they do NOT affect them directly)

What happens if 60% of the Grand Ole party voters/supporters/party members poll that they do NOT care if Donald Trump starts a war with North Korea that could get tens of thousands of Korea’s killed and thousands of American soldiers also?

Image result for mueller/Trump/ryan

What happen’s if Donald Trump keeps coaxing his adopted party to KEEP TRYING to ‘steal from the poor and give to rich?’…..

All these things ARE FUCKING SCARY…..

But so far?

It seems that almost NOTHING is more important to most Republican lawmakers than  KEEPING their jobs….

Some of those who don’t like what going on have stood up and been greeted with applause….But most who question Trump out loud are subjected to abuse from some of their local vocal party members …..

They get to add that to Trump berating them in public…..

In reaction to THIS?

Some have announced they’re giving up and not running for re-election…

But most?

Most keep their heads down, swallow hard and vote to support Trump’s all over the place requests and proclaim their allegiance to Trump’s  wishes….

The specter of Donald Trump winning the GOP nomination and Presidency still haunts these party members….Heck, it still spooks the media which has always ignored the rightwingnuts…But now tries to front some of their crazy stuff….

Image result for mueller

If you get the time to read the Vox piece by David Roberts…..It IS good to understand NOT the law and legal part of Trump’s story for the last year…It sis also important to understand the political dynamic he is running on the American government…..And things unimaginable  COULD occur next year that could change the American way of governance and way of life if one parties lawmakers do NOT grow the ball’s to stand up be counted if  Robert Mueller and his investigators and prosecutors lay down a story of a cover-up’s , lie’s ,  money, laundering, conspiracy , obstruction and maybe even treason….

What if facts and persuasion just don’t matter anymore?

As long as conservatives can do something — steal an election, gerrymander crazy districts to maximize GOP advantage, use the filibuster as a routine tool of opposition, launch congressional investigations as political attacks, hold the debt ceiling hostage, repress voting among minorities, withhold a confirmation vote on a Supreme Court nominee, defend a known fraud and sexual predator who has likely colluded with a foreign government to gain the presidency — they will do it, knowing they’ll be backed by a relentlessly on-message media apparatus.

And if that’s true, if the very preconditions of science and journalism as commonly understood have been eroded, then all that’s left is a raw contest of power.

Donald Trump has the power to hold on to the presidency, as long as elected Republicans, cowed by the conservative base, support him. That is true almost regardless of what he’s done or what’s proven by Mueller. As long as he has that power, he will exercise it. That’s what recent history seems to show.

Democrats do not currently have the numbers to stop him. They can’t do it without some help from Republicans. And Republicans seem incapable, not only of acting on what Mueller knows, but of even coming to know it.

Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe US institutions have more life in them than I think. But at this point, it’s just very difficult to imagine anything that could bridge the epistemic gulf between America’s tribes. We are split in two, living in different worlds, with different stories and facts shaping our lives. We no longer learn or know things together, as a country, so we can no longer act together, as a country.

So we may just have to live with a president indicted for collusion with a foreign power….

So much for the No Russian help against Hillary Clinton’s campaign….

Forget the ‘dossier’ bull shit….

Of course it was originated by the Republicans running AGAINST Trump….

The guilty plea of George Papadopoulos has shed light on the FACT that the Trump campaign DID in fact have Democratic emails forwarded to then by Russian officials….(The Trump email’s problem, eh?)

The question now is ‘who knew’?

How far up in the campaign?

Mueller and his people have to know….But what can they prove?

The guilty plea of a 30-year-old campaign aide — so green that he listed Model United Nations in his qualifications — shifted the narrative on Monday of the Trump campaign’s interactions with Russia: Court documents revealed that Russian officials alerted the campaign, through an intermediary in April 2016, that they possessed thousands of Democratic emails and other “dirt” on Hillary Clinton.

That was two months before the Russian hacking of the Democratic National Committee was publicly revealed and the stolen emails began to appear online. The new court filings provided the first clear evidence that Trump campaign aides had early knowledge that Russia had stolen confidential documents on Mrs. Clinton and the committee, a tempting trove in a close presidential contest.

By the time of a crucial meeting in June of last year, when Donald Trump Jr. and other senior Trump campaign officials met with a Russian lawyer offering damaging information on Mrs. Clinton, some may have known for weeks that Russia had material likely obtained by illegal hacking, the new documents suggested. The disclosures added to the evidence pointing to attempts at collaboration between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, but they appeared to fall short of proof that they conspired in the hacking or other illegal acts.

The improbable figure at the center of the new information was a “foreign policy adviser” to Mr. Trump, George Papadopoulos….

Instead of opening a new era in relations with Russia, Mr. Papadopoulos found himself caught up in the investigation of the Russian interference in the American election. The documents accuse him of lying to F.B.I. agents in two interviews, first on Jan. 27 and then on Feb. 16, when he “reiterated his purported willingness to cooperate with the F.B.I.’s investigation,” ….

The Democratic lobbist ‘Not’ mentioned in the Mueller probe…

He’s the brother former Bill Clinton chief of staff John Podesta, Tony Podesta….He has NOT been charged with anything, not even mentioned by name actually…Just called by his un-named company…

Former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort and his business partner Rick Gates were indicted on several counts Monday. And hours later, Democratic super-lobbyist Tony Podesta announced that he’d step down from his firm, the Podesta Group, Politico’s Anna Palmer reported.

That’s no coincidence. According to a report last week by Tom Winter and Julia Ainsley of NBC News, Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s inquiry into Manafort’s foreign work before the campaign implicated Podesta’s own foreign work.

Specifically, both Podesta’s and Manafort’s firms represented a Ukrainian nonprofit group — the European Centre for a Modern Ukraine — between 2012 and 2014. This group was attempting to improve the image of the Ukrainian regime at the time, which was pro-Russian and under scrutiny for its treatment of their domestic opposition.

The indictment of Manafort and Gates does not mention the Podesta Group by name, but it appears to allude to it as either “Company A” or “Company B” here — and claims one of those companies was outright told they were representing the “government of Ukraine,” not just some nonprofit…..

Trump’s legal team takes a gamble and cooperates with Mueller probe…

While the question hounding Donald Trump and the media has been about Special Council Robert Mueller going after a sitting President for trying to stop an investigation against himself?

Trump’s legal team seems to be betting they won’t have that problem….

Indicting a sitting President is reportedly against Dept of Justice rules….In addition?

There are some that think that a President can indeed pardon himself….

Bringing charges against a President is serious and would have to be iron tight…But the action would start a POLITICAL process

Those charges would be presented to the House of Representatives to either pass or hand up an impeachment charge….

The case would then go to the Senate…..

Right now?

Trump probably wouldn’t have trouble…

But you never know….

With all of the above?

Ty Cobb, the White House lawyer handling the response to Mr. Mueller’s investigation is busy supplying data requested by the Special Council’s office in the hope that THEY will NOT have a strong enough case to point to their client being guilty of a federal crime….

Not ALL of the Cobb’s team are happy with his strategy….

White House officials once debated a scorched-earth strategy of publicly criticizing and undercutting Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel investigating Russian efforts to disrupt last year’s election. Now, President Trump’s lawyers are pursuing a different course: cooperating with the special counsel in the hope that Mr. Mueller will declare in the coming months that Mr. Trump is not a target of the Russia inquiry.

Mr. Trump has long sought such a public declaration. He fired his F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, in May after Mr. Comey refused to say openly that Mr. Trump was not under investigation.

The president’s legal team is working swiftly to respond to requests from Mr. Mueller for emails, documents and memos, and will make White House officials available for interviews. Once Mr. Mueller has combed through the evidence, Mr. Trump’s lawyers plan to ask him to affirm that Mr. Trump is not under investigation, either for colluding with Russian operatives or for trying to obstruct justice.

More than a half dozen White House officials, witnesses and outside lawyers connected to the Russia inquiry have described the approach, which is as much a public relations strategy as a legal one. The president’s legal team aims to argue that the White House has nothing to hide, hoping to shift the burden to Mr. Mueller to move quickly to wrap up an investigation that has consumed the Trump administration’s first year.

“The White House believes the special counsel shares its interest in concluding this matter with all deliberate speed for the benefit of the country,” said Ty Cobb, the White House lawyer handling the response to Mr. Mueller’s investigation. He said the administration was cooperating “with hope of bringing the matter to a prompt and decisive end.”….

Robert Mueller Update Oct 3, 2017….Pre-Emptive Pardons?

Most people do NOT know this…But?

Donald J. Trump as the President of the United States of America CAN mostlikely PARDON EVERYONE that Robert Mueller’s people have talked to BEFORE they are even charged…..(Mueller has someone working on the pardon question)

You read THAT right….

Trump actually does NOT need to fire Mueller….

He can just cut everyone loose that Mueller wants to indict….

Now all that might drive the media batshit crazy….

And the political fallout would probably cost Trump the Presidency

But Trump COULD , if he wanted to?…COULD do such a thing….

Of course, some of the people involved like Manafort have state Attorney General liability also….So a pardon wouldn’t completely clear him….

President Donald Trump has the absolute Constitutional power to pardon any of his family, advisers, campaign staff, former and current appointees, and former business associates (including at Trump corporations), regardless of how controversial doing so might be. Issuing a pardon certainly sounds easy, much like waving a magic wand to slam the door shut on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. However, the decision is complicated with real ramifications for all those pardoned, and likely Trump’s Presidency…..

The substantive law as to the President’s power is clear. Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution confers pardon authority on the President for violations of federal law (not state laws) stating that the President has the “power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the U.S., except in cases of impeachment.”…

In an opinion issued in 1886, the Supreme Court clarified that the pardon power conferred by the Constitution is “unlimited, with the exception [of cases of impeachment],” and it “extends to every offence known to the law.” The Supreme Court wrote that the President may exercise the pardon power after the commission of the criminal offense, before or during legal proceedings, and after conviction and judgment. In fact, so long as the President grants a pardon before conviction, then doing so prevents any of the “penalties and disabilities consequent on conviction from attaching” to the pardoned person….

But as in the Arpaio case ?

Once convinced ?

The Presidencial pardon does NOT automaticly  clear the RECORD of the charges….Nor would it make the knowledge of the charges disappear in todays media …

Breaking….Hillary Clinton up for CHALLENGING Donald Trump’s Win

When asked if she would be up for contesting the Trump win if Special Counsel Mueller is successful in proving that Trump’s win was a result of illegal actions…..

She said  she would NOT RULE OUT contesting his Presidency….

This has  NEVER happened and has scant to zero chance of ever happening….

But wait until tomorrow morning….

Cause I can’t see how Donald Trump doesn’t take this bait and strike back….(Thus affording Clinton the pleasure of getting a piece of Trump)…..

It’s like the 2016 campaign NEVER ended…..

Sanders is pushing his stuff….

Trump is tweeting insults at Hillary Clinton….

And Hillary Clinton is out there knocking Trump……

Here’s the full text of the back-and-forth, courtesy of CNN’s Dan Merica:
Gross: I want to get back to the question, would you completely rule out questioning the legitimacy of this election if we learn that the Russian interference in the election is even deeper than we know now?
Clinton: No. I would not. I would say —
Gross: You’re not going to rule it out?
Clinton: No, I wouldn’t rule it out.
This a big deal. The 2016 Democratic nominee, who won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes, is expressly leaving open the possibility that she would pursue legal action to invalidate the last presidential election.
I’ve paid close attention to what Clinton’s been saying since she lost the election and I have never heard her broach the possibility of a formal challenge of the results.
Knowing what we know of Clinton, it seems unlikely to me that she simply spoke off the cuff here, that this was just an unconsidered remark. She doesn’t really do that sort of thing.
Glen Caplin, a spokesman for Clinton, said after the interview aired that the former secretary of state “has said repeatedly the results of the election are over but we have to learn what happened.”
“I would hope anyone in America concerned about the integrity of our democracy would feel the same way if we got there. But we’re not,” Caplin said. “Right now Bob Mueller and several congressional committees are investigating to what extent the Russians impacted our election and who exactly helped them do so.”
And, context matters too. Clinton floated the idea of formally contesting the election after she said this about how she envisions her role in the party going forward: “I expect to be really active, and my voice, I’m going to keep out there. I’m not going to just go slowly and quietly into that good night.”
Given all of that, it’s logical to conclude Clinton knew what she was doing here.
The harder-to-answer questions are a) how she would go about challenging the election and b) what the prospects for such a challenge actually working might be…..

Mueller IS working with the IRS on the Trump case…

The question about Trump’s tax returns isn’t a question anymore…

Mueller’s team INCLUDES some of the top IRS criminal investigators…

If you remember?

Donald Trump (When he wasn’t President) DID have tax problems during the campaign….And I don’t believe he’s beyond the statue of limitations time yet….

Special counsel Bob Mueller has teamed up with the IRS. According to sources familiar with his investigation into alleged Russian election interference, his probe has enlisted the help of agents from the IRS’ Criminal Investigations unit.

This unit—known as CI—is one of the federal government’s most tight-knit, specialized, and secretive investigative entities. Its 2,500 agents focus exclusively on financial crime, including tax evasion and money laundering. A former colleague of Mueller’s said he always liked working with IRS’ special agents, especially when he was a U.S. Attorney.

And it goes without saying that the IRS has access to Trump’s tax returns—documents that the president has long resisted releasing to the public.

Potential financial crimes are a central part of Mueller’s probe. One of his top deputies, Andy Weissmann, formerly helmed the Justice Department’s Enron probe and has extensive experience working with investigative agents from the IRS.

“From the agents, I know everyone has the utmost respect for both Muellerand Weissmann,” said Martin Sheil, a retired IRS Criminal Investigations agent…..

Florida Republican pushing measure to shutdown Mueller probe after 6 months

Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) must want Trump to come to his district to campaign for him…

His idea just ain’t going anywhere even with Republicans….

But Trump will sure love it….

DeSantis has put forward a provision that would halt funding for Mueller’s probe six months after the amendment’s passage. It also would prohibit Mueller from investigating matters that occurred before June 2015, when Trump launched his presidential campaign.

The amendment is one of hundreds filed to a government spending package the House is expected to consider when it returns next week from the August recess. The provision is not guaranteed a vote on the House floor; the House Rules Committee has wide leeway to discard amendments it considers out of order.

In a statement, DeSantis said the order appointing Mueller as special counsel “didn’t identify a crime to be investigated and practically invites a fishing expedition.”

“Congress should use its spending power to clarify the scope and limit the duration of this investigation,” he explained. Deputy Attorney General Rod “Rosenstein has said that the DOJ doesn’t conduct fishing expeditions; the corollary to this admonition should be that Congress will not fund a fishing expedition.”

Several House Democrats are pushing amendments to protect the Mueller probe.

For instance, Rep. Nita Lowey of New York, ranking Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee, proposed a measure to prohibit the Justice Department from obstructing Mueller’s work.

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has voiced support for Mueller in response to reports that Trump was considering firing the special counsel…..

Trump people where looking to do a big Hotel deal in Moscow during the campaign…

Of course NOBODY thought Trump would win….

Trump had to KNOW this?

A private person doing this is illegal….

A Presidential  campaign staff person doing this HAS to be doubly illegal…

Mueller’s people are gonna be parading a whole LOT of people before their grand juries….

A top executive from Donald Trump’s real estate company emailed Vladimir Putin’s personal spokesman during the U.S. presidential campaign last year to ask for help advancing a stalled Trump Tower development project in Moscow, according to documents submitted to Congress Monday.

Michael Cohen, a Trump attorney and executive vice president for the Trump Organization, sent the email in January 2016 to Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s top press aide.

“Over the past few months I have been working with a company based in Russia regarding the development of a Trump Tower – Moscow project in Moscow City,” Cohen wrote Peskov, according to a person familiar with the email. “Without getting into lengthy specifics the communication between our two sides has stalled.”

“As this project is too important, I am hereby requesting your assistance. I respectfully request someone, preferably you, contact me so that I might discuss the specifics as well as arranging meetings with the appropriate individuals. I thank you in advance for your assistance and look forward to hearing from you soon,” Cohen wrote.

Cohen’s email marks the most direct interaction yet documented of a top Trump aide and a similarly senior member of Putin’s government.

The email shows the Trump business official directly seeking Kremlin assistance in advancing Trump’s business interests, in the same months when Trump was distinguishing himself on the campaign trail with his warm rhetoric about Putin….

The Arpaio pardon fallout….

There HAS been condemnation of Trump’s action….

Will it add  weight to the pattern on race the Trump is carrying around for himself and party?

Will it help to demonstrate Trump’s ongoing  disregard for the sensitivities of politics and the law?

This is in no way on the level of the  Mueller probe …But it probably will NOT be helpful when the Special Prosecutor presents his case. and people wait for Trump’s response..

Bob Bauer: “An act of this kind cannot fail to affect Mueller and his team as they investigate obstruction of justice and evaluate evidence bearing on the President’s motives and respect for law. Trump will have added more telling detail to the picture prosecutors are piecing together of ‘how he operates.’ Congress may now or in the future also have occasion to conduct its own inquiry.”

“And while the president may well get away with the specific act of pardoning Arpaio, this action will not be without effect on future calls for impeachment. Unlike a pardon of himself, family members, or aides in the Russia matter, pardoning Arpaio would probably not result in the immediate demand for an impeachment inquiry. If, however, impeachment pressure increases, or a formal impeachment inquiry is launched on the basis of Russian ‘collusion,’ obstruction, or on other grounds, an Arpaio pardon in the background will be highly damaging to the President’s position. It will immeasurably strengthen the hand of those arguing that Donald Trump does not have the requisite respect for the rule of law, or an understanding of the meaning of his constitutional oath, to be entrusted with the presidency.”
