“Black Panther” can’t stop exceeding expectations.

Ryan Coogler’s movie, starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o and Angela Bassett, is currently tracking to bring in $165 million during its opening weekend, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

That would put “Black Panther” among the top five or six openings for a superhero movie, including “The Avengers” ($207.4 million), “Avengers: Age of Ultron” ($191.3 million), “Captain America: Civil War” ($179.1 million), “Iron Man 3” ($174.1 million), “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” ($166 million) and “The Dark Knight Rises” ($160.9 million).

The movie has also sold more advance IMAX tickets than any other Marvel movie, IMAX Entertainment CEO Greg Foster told Variety.

Spider-Man to join the Marvel Universe in Movies….

For those who  don’t know how these things work….

When comic book hero’s go to the silver screen?

They get bought out and owned by BIG companies….

Marvel studio’s owns the Marvel Universe characters …

But Sony owned Spider-Man….

The last Spider-man film did just all right (I know Gwen was supposed be done…But it did spoil things for the movie)….

So Sony now has cut a deal with Marvel to have Spider -Man join up with the marvel heavy hitters like Iron Man and captain America and company….

Marvel Studios has finally snared Spider-Man in its web.

The studio announced late Monday that it reached a deal with Sony to debut a rebooted version of the wall-crawling superhero in one of its movies, sharing the same cinematic universe as the likes of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America.

That movie is expected to be next year’s “Captain America: Civil War,” a source told the Wall Street Journal.

Spider-Man is of course a staple of the Marvel comic books, but had been licensed by Sony for the big screen before the publisher launched its own studio division. Marvel Comics Spider-Man is of course a staple of the Marvel comic books, but had been licensed by Sony for the big screen before the publisher launched its own studio division.

Under the deal, Sony Pictures will still maintain the rights to a standalone “Spider-Man” movie set for a July 28, 2017, release, but Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige will be a co-producer on the flick.

It’s a huge win for both Marvel and comic book nerds: Spider-Man, of course, is the flagship hero of the company’s comics division, but had been licensed to Sony before Marvel had established its own studio. The publisher’s popular X-Men franchise, however, remains in 20th Century Fox’s clutches…

Iron Man 3” took in $72.5 million in ticket sales to retain first place at U.S. and Canadian cinemas for a second weekend for Walt Disney Co. (DIS)’s Marvel unit.

“The Great Gatsby,” Warner Bros.’ 3-D take on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s tale of excess and unrequited love in the Roaring ’20s, was second with $51.1 million, researcher Hollywood.com Box-Office said today in an e-mailed statement.

“Iron Man 3,” starring Robert Downey Jr., opened last weekend with $174.1 million, the second-biggest debut ever. The movie’s sales are tracking similarly to those of “The Avengers,” also from Disney, which debuted on the first weekend of May last year with the biggest opening weekend ever ($207.4 million).

“‘Iron Man 3’ is a proven story with a great cast and it continues the winning record of other Marvel franchises, including “The Avengers,’” said Paul Sweeney, a Bloomberg Industries analyst. The movie is well on its way to $1 billion in sales globally, though “Star Trek” should take the top spot next week when it debuts, he said….
