In the other countywide races, Republican County Clerk Maureen O’Connell was ahead of Democrat Dean Bennett, who runs a management consulting firm.

For Nassau comptroller, Republican Steven Labriola, a former deputy comptroller, led Democrat Jack Schnirman, the Long Beach City manager, in the battle to succeed Democrat George Maragos.

But it was the hard-fought county executive’s race that received the most attention at the Democratic and Republican gatherings Tuesday night. Green Party candidate Cassandra Lems also was on the ballot….

There ARE more Democrats in Nassau County than  Republicans, whose political machine had run the place….But the demographic ‘s of the country are working even more against Republicans as the country turns more brown and yellow…In addition, there has been the arrest and conviction, which has been thrown out , of for New York State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and his son on corruption charges  …..The out going County Executive Republican Ed Mangano is under federal indictment for political corruption also.

The Curran win is a BIG blow to the Nassau County political machine….

This post has beeen updated to reflect the final tally in the County executive race…

Ed Mangano wins decisively this time in Nassau County Exc. Race…

Democrats in Long Island’s Nassau County took it on the chin AGAIN….

In a county where Democratic voter registrations outnumber Republicans by 40,000….

The incumbent County Executive Ed Mangano INCREASED his win margin over the guy he beat four years ago from about 400 votes to 48,000….

The Democrats in the suburban county only had a win in the DA’s race on a countywide level…

Tom Suozzi was NOT the guy to run this time and should NOT be coming back, he’s NOT liked by the New York Governor, most county Democrats don’t like him either…And he knows that….

Adam Haber ran against him for the nomination and the party turned it’s back to him..We’ll see if he waits for four years or tries for something else…

Clearly the Republicans in the county KNOW how to run election campaigns and the Democrats Do NOT.…Especially when a good amount of Democratic voters I’m told asked their election official’s wher could they vote for Bill DeBlasio (They couldn’t they live in Nassau Couty….De Blasio is gonna be the Mayor of New York City)…..

Republican Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano won the Nassau County executive race Tuesday, routing Democratic challenger Thomas Suozzi in a rematch of their 2009 contest.

The county reported early Wednesday that Mangano had 59 percent of the vote, compared to nearly 41 percent for Suozzi, who failed in his bid for another shot at the seat he once held. More than 99 percent of the precincts had reported.

“What a great night!” Mangano said, moving to declare victory shortly before 11 p.m., before Suozzi admitted defeat. “I feel so blessed to continue in this job. . . . We overcame the challenges, we overcame the deceptions.”

A short time later, Suozzi conceded, saying it was “unusual” Mangano didn’t wait for him to call before declaring victory.

“This is a tough loss . . . but it doesn’t mean we weren’t right,” Suozzi said. “We may have had a bad campaign, we may have hit the wrong message, but we still have serious problems in Nassau County.”

Suozzi then congratulated Mangano on his victory.

In 2009, Mangano narrowly beat Suozzi in the race by 386 votes….

Congradulations to Carrie Solages (D), who won re-election to his second term in the Nassau County 3rd Legislative District by a BETTER than 2 to 1 margin…..

Nassau County Executive Race Poll has Suozzi closing a bit on Mangano…..

…..from Daily Kos……

• Nassau Exec: Hrm. Siena’s final poll of the Nassau County, NY executive’s race finds incumbent Republican Ed Mangano beating Democrat Tom Suozzi 52-41. That’s down from a 52-35 Mangano lead last month that no one really seemed to believe, but Siena’s gyrated wildly: In August, they had Suozzi up 42-41. At least this time, Siena’s racial crosstabs are more believable (Suozzi’s winning black voters 71-21), but I’m really not sure what to believe. At least we’ll finally get our answers on Tuesday…..

This race is gonna be about turnout….

Mangano Polls clearly ahead as the voters go to the polls….

There ARE MORE Democrats in the County…

So….If they come come out in big numbers (???) they would make the polls inaccurate….

But Republicans generally  have more of their voters show up to actually vote….
