Democratic working group to suggest changes, including for superdelegates, for 2020 Presidential nomination process…

No….

The group, which included Bernie Sanders people, have not suggested getting rid of superdelegate’s….

That same group IS working to allow someone like Sanders, who is NOT a Democrat, to be able to walking and take the nomination…

A Democratic Party working group will meet in Washington, D.C. today and tomorrow to finalize a formal list of recommended reforms for the party.

By then end of this weekend the group called the “unity commission,” which has been meeting for a year around the country, plans to have voted on and submitted a final document to all Democratic National Committee members.

Sources close to the commission who have seen working drafts of its current report tell ABC News the panel plans to recommend dramatic cuts to the individual voting power of superdelegates and new rules around caucuses and primaries to improve access for voters and recordkeeping.

The unity commission was created during the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia and tasked with devising a plan to limit the party’s total number of superdelegate votes by two-thirds.

Superdelegates are elected officials and party leaders who, in the past, have been free to support any candidate for the presidential nomination in contrast to pledged delegates who support candidates based on local popular vote results in each state’s primary or caucus.

After Democrats’ surprise and devastating loss in the presidential election last year, the commission’s work took on a new, broader purpose to analyze the party’s shortcomings and missteps as a whole…

While members of the working group have agreed the process has been collegial, most say it is just the first step to recovering and rebuilding their party…..

Eliminating most unbound superdelegates + highly proportional delegate allocation + potentially huge Democratic field = high probability of a brokered convention.

Bernie Sanders is working on 2020?…Or?

And he has begun to work WITH Democratic party establishment types….

Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has tasked him with doing outreach for Democratic Senators…

BUT HE STILL ISN’T A DEMOCRAT…

Bernie Sanders is taking steps to address longstanding political shortcomings that were exposed in 2016, ahead of another possible presidential bid in 2020.

From forging closer ties to the labor movement to shoring up his once-flimsy foreign policy credentials, the moves have provided the senator inroads into party power structures that largely shunned him in favor of Hillary Clinton last year. They’ve also empowered the progressive icon to harness his newfound political power and help Democrats fight President Donald Trump’s administration.

Sanders has been working closely with figures who are close to the party establishment he’s long railed against, like American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten. And he’s been meeting with international affairs experts such as Bill Perry, a defense secretary in the administration of President Bill Clinton, around a series of speeches designed to define his international vision, one year after running a campaign heavy on domestic policy and light on the rest of the world.

The Vermont independent hasn’t decided whether to run for president again in 2020. To his closest allies, his efforts represent a natural next step in his role as “outreach chairman” for Senate Democrats, a new position created for him late last year by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York.

Yet the maneuvers could form an important part of a Sanders 2020 effort, a dozen of those allies acknowledged to POLITICO — one that looks markedly different from his surprise 2016 bid, which often suffered from a lack of mainstream political support….

While political pundits all have him in the lead in the 2020 Democratic Presidential nomination race?

Almost ALL of the polls of Democrats have Joe Biden in the lead…

Some want Bernie Sanders to help them form a new party….

There are those who want the 76 year old Socialist/Independent Vermont Senator to start his own party …..

It just keeps getting crazier as this go along….

The guy is dancing with the Democrats….

Wants to lead them….(At least that’s the media angle…Actual Democrat voters haven’t given him the Presidential nomination, the DNC chair or much of any wins of his endorsed people in local races, but the guy is a BRIGHT Shinny object the emdia can’t resist)

And now a call for him thelp form his OWN party?

REALLY?

On Friday, as Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) celebrated his 76th birthday, a crowd of about 60 people gathered on the Mall. They were part of the People’s Convergence Conference, which centered on the specific political goal of drafting Sanders to lead a “People’s Party” — a new, independent force — into the 2018 and 2020 elections. Nick Brana, the former Sanders political aide who had given up on Democrats after trying to wrangle superdelegates in the 2016 primary, smiled and thanked supporters who were about to help him deliver “50,000 plus” signatures to Sanders’s Senate office.

“Two years ago, this was unthinkable,” Brana said into a megaphone. “The establishment media attacks us all the time. Three days after we launched, MSNBC was on our case! They had a whole panel discussion about how Bernie shouldn’t do it.”

Very few members of the media were on hand as the Convergence kicked off. Brana’s campaign, which Sanders has repeatedly (albeit politely) rebuffed, is the best-organized of several efforts to turn progressives away from the Democratic Party. It has the endorsement of Cornel West, perhaps the 2016 Sanders surrogate most adamant about leaving the party; and it has two clear narratives, which suggest that to stay inside the nation’s major liberal party is to accept permanent decline….

Bernie Sanders Movement has little to show in wins…

Nor should it….

Senator Bernie Sanders is NOT even a Democrat…

He got beat in last years Democratic Presidential race….

Most of his  policy views are NOT the answer for Democrats….

(Some ARE)…

But the party ( and Republicans) have held steady against efforts to be taken over by an outsider like the Republicans and Donald Trump…

The Bernie ‘burn’ has not been all that even as it energizes Progressives within the party…

By many measures, the Bernie Sanders revolution proved a smashing success. Young people registered to vote, and small donors opened their wallets. Economic issues like the minimum wage and student debt were pushed to the forefront of the presidential debate. From big city rallies to the backwaters of precinct-level elections, the progressive movement breathes new life in no small part due to the Vermont senator.

But nearly a year after Sanders’ presidential run fell short, one thing is missing in the afterglow — a reliable string of victories at the ballot box.

The losses are piling up. Earlier this month, Democrat Heath Mello, whom Sanders campaigned with, failed to unseat a Republican in Omaha’s race for mayor. Kimberly Ellis, the candidate endorsed by Our Revolution, the successor group to Sanders’ presidential campaign, lost a fiercely contested race for California Democratic Party chair. And on Thursday night, Republican Greg Gianforte bested Rob Quist, another Democrat for whom Sanders campaigned, in a nationally watched House race in Montana.

Speaking at a victory party, Gianforte called the election proof “Bernie Sanders and Nancy Pelosi can’t call the shots here in Montana.”

Following Quist’s loss, progressive Democrats took solace in their candidate’s unexpectedly close showing, with Quist heralding the “energy” of party activists in his state. On the West Coast, Ellis’ supporters clung to the promise of increased representation at the party’s lower rungs.

But that’s not the same as actual control of the levers of power, and the optimism belied the difficulty Sanders’ supporters have had turning their enthusiasm into electoral success….

What is Bernie doing?

Remember?

Bernie Sanders is NOT a Democrat….

He ain’t on the Democratic team roster….

Bernie Sanders has embarked on a “Come Together and Fight Back” tour with with Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez. But he’s not really helping on that first part.

Over the last few days, Sanders’s has at times offered some odd comments for a guy pushing for Democratic unity.

To wit:

But the most puzzling development this week is Sanders’s decision to keep Georgia special election candidate Jon Ossoff at arms-length. Sanders hasn’t endorsed Ossoff, and in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he seemed to suggest Ossoff’s progressive bona fides were in question.

“If you run as a Democrat, you’re a Democrat,” Sanders said. “Some Democrats are progressive, and some Democrats are not.”

Sanders qualified this by saying he didn’t know much about Ossoff, so perhaps it should be taken at face value — that he truly doesn’t know enough to make a decision about him. But it’s an odd statement to make about a guy who has been running in such a high-profile race and in whom Democrats have invested so much money and blood, sweat and tears….
