Waiting in the wings and soon to be appearing?…Barack Obama…

The Hill does an update piece on the return of Barack Obama to the Democrats national scene…

Look for him to come back on stage this fall…

He has indicated that he wants to help the party climb back into the majority , something they lost during his two terms in office…

While some think he could overshadow the emerging 2020 Democratic Presidential sweepstakes entrants….I think Obama at least owes the party his services in trying to regain its footings….(Sanders people can’t be happy with this)

Hillary Clinton doesn’t have Obama’s 63% approval numbers , but will be out with a book  and has her own Super Pac up and running for what she says is to also help out the Democrats in 2018 and 2020…

One aide describes the beginning of a “delicate dance” that aims to put Obama in the Democratic fray but prevents him from remaining the face of the party.

Aides will huddle with Obama in the coming weeks to plot out what shape the former president’s fall schedule will take. Advisers close to him say that while he will play an active role in helping his party rebuild, much of his work will be behind the scenes.

He is likely to take on fundraising, for example, something he has done for the Democratic National Committee and the National Democratic Redistricting Committee since leaving office.

In recent months, Obama has played a larger behind the scenes role than was publicly known….

Barack Obama quietly begins to help his party out…

When the former President left office he said he didn’t want to be involved in politics anymore…

THAT is not gob be possible….

He left the Democratic party actually in worst shape then it was when he first got elected in 2008….

It is not unreasonable to expect him to help the party which seems divided and rudderless…

Since leaving office, he has held meetings — on a by-request basis — with a handful of House and Senate lawmakers in his office in Washington’s West End and over the phone.

In recent months, for example, he sat down one-on-one with freshman Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), according to a Democrat familiar with the meeting.

He has also met with and has had phone conversations with Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez throughout the spring, according to two sources.

“Hey man, it’s only the future of the world in your hands,” Obama joked with Perez in one conversation, according to a DNC aide.

Obama’s former political adviser David Simas, who is now the CEO of the Obama Foundation, has also been making a string of calls to DNC officials in recent months.

Sources familiar with Obama’s meetings with members of Congress declined to offer the names of all of the lawmakers he has met with, saying the sessions were meant to be private.

The DNC source described Obama’s chats with Perez as regular “check ins.”

Obama hasn’t had a major public presence on the political stage since leaving the White House.

“He doesn’t want the focus to be on him,” said one source close to the former president. “He doesn’t want to be out in front.”

But the private activity suggests that the former president, who left the White House with a 60 percent approval rating, is quietly doing more to shape the party than is often visible.

The meetings and calls have come at a time when the Democratic Party, still reeling from the stunning 2016 presidential election loss, is searching for leadership……

Like it or NOT?…Barack Obama is not gonna be a quiet memory….

The now ex-President just got finished shodowing Trump around Europe talking their leaders after Trump ….

He has take to defending his Affordable Healthcare program while Republicans seek to turn the program into a tax cut for the rich and cut funding to states Medicaid programs ….

And he seems to be a sometimes target for the Trump….

And in the last few days fellow Democrats…

In small, but visible ways Obama is still very relevant.

He traveled to Europe at the same time as President Trump who there as part of his first foreign trip as president. He then continued his bromance with Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau earlier this month when the two met for a meal in Montreal, the pictures quickly exploding on social media. And then there’s his latest: On Thursday he took to Facebook to write a detailed defence of the Affordable Care Act. Hours later, he agreed to his first post-presidency campaign event — likely a rally for the Democratic candidate for Virginia governor, with no date yet set.

Obama probably didn’t plan for his presidential afterlife to be like this. He might have looked the polls last fall, as most did, and assumed that Hillary Clinton would win. If that had happened, he likely would have instead focused on writing his memoirs, setting up his presidential library, and a giving a few paid speeches around the world.

But, of course, Clinton did not win and the current president has something of a fixation on tearing down Obama’s legacy. This is particularly true when it comes to issues of immigration, health care, the Iran nuclear deal and on the environment.

Compound that with the fact that Donald Trump has had consistently low approval ratings and the Democratic Party is in ruins without any sign of a comeback. Obama, by contrast, left office with the highest approval ratings of any outgoing president since Ronald Reagan. He’s the Democrats best — and perhaps only — effective voice right now.

In the past, the party might have pushed a former president to lie low so as to give the next generation the spotlight. Not this time…..
