“We were honest about our concerns about Huntsman. I think Huntsman would have been a very tough general election candidate,” Messina said, during a forum sponsored by Politico this week.
“We looked at his profile in a general election and thought he would have been difficult,” he added.

Share on FacebookSantorum also emphasized he is not worried about his home state, Pennsylvania. The former senator said he had “a strong conservative base in the state,” disputing numbers which show former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the GOP front-runner, gaining support there.
When asked if he would consider running for president in 2016 if he lost this GOP race, Santorum said he was focused on 2012.
Said Gingrich: “There is no agreement of any kind, and I plan to go all the way to Tampa.”

They might want something from whoever wins — a speaking slot at the convention or a specific plank in the party platform. The more delegates you have, the greater your power to affect convention issues.
They may want the attention, keeping their profile up for future book sales or speaking fees. Remember, every place they go (almost), local cameras are there and will talk about candidate X on the local news, not to mention the constant national television presence.

Share on FacebookMitt Romney and Rick Santorum were both in Illinois on Sunday. This Tuesday’s GOP primary is certainly going to be crucial. Romney has the money edge and polls have also shown him ahead in this state. I am just wondering if another big Romney win might be a knockout blow. The delegate math is getting tougher for Santorum as more states go for Romney.
