GM has car that does 230 miles to gallon?…….

Yep…in 2011 General Motors is going to launch the Chevrolet Volt an electric vehicle that will get an estimated range of 230 miles per gallon. Nissan is planning top offer its Leaf, which is advertised to get 367 miles per gallon. In combined city/highway driving, the Volt should get more than 100 miles to a gallon…….of course, there is one catch (isn’t there always?)……these cars will cost a lot of money…….the Volt may have  a price tag of $40,000, and the Leaf may cost  around $25,000 to $33,000, when they arrive for sale……..there are a whole lot of issues to deal with when these cars arrive (like the price to charge the cars battery, and battery life ). My question is…..With those relatively high prices …will people buy a lot of them?…Or will they end up being Utility companies and Rental car company fleet cars, while American’s stick with their cheaper, regular gas driven models?

Healthcare…….

Folks….I just got thru watching the Healthcare forums given by President Obama and Arlen Spector today…….WHEW!…….There are a lot of people who feel that Obama’s program will be the downfall of the nation. While Obama’s session was respectful and tame (could it be the local police and the Secret Service?),  Arlen’s was ‘rock and roll’…..he had  several local and Capitol Police Officers calmly standing by…but people got HOT!…….They are mad and scared……but you know what…..Obama and Spector both promise that they will only vote for a program that pays for itself……and I am going out a limb here, and will say that a bit of the anger is that people who didn’t vote for the President, are still  REAL UPSET that he won, and don’t really trust him…………

The dump 'Ole Joe' in 2012 chorus has started early……….

Here is the first of many articles that will purpose that Obama drop Joe Biden for Hillary Clinton on his ticket, in 2012. The idea is ridiculous, since Obama seems to be very happy with his Vice President, and Ole Joe seems to be playing a good, strong role in the new administration. Further more, Hillary seems to be doing a really decent job over at State, with Obama’s blessing………leave it alone people…it’s only been like 205 days… all right?

For the 'Blue Dogs" and Healthcare …this summer is about Grass Roots………

Rep Barron Hill (D, Ind) went home for his summer vacation, from the nations capital, and ever since, he has been dealing with grassroots opposition, and support for President Obama’s Healthcare Program………No matter  what, I believe that we have to get a hold on costs, and that more people need to be able to get access to healthcare. And don’t talk to me about Socialism…cause don’t we have Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, Food Stamps and other Social programs that the government operates?

Burris, Corzine and Schumer………..

Well they are all democrats…..but that’s were it ends……..Roland Burris (D , IL) is thinking about changing his mind and running for re-election…..Jon Corzine, the New Jersey Governor is asking …….why won’t Christie answer his Freedom of Information requests on Christie’s actions and dealings as US Attorney in New Jersey?………and Chuck Schumer is on a roll……….Gillibrand, Sotomayor, Democratic senators elected, and the confirmation of the new US Attorney for the Southern District…….

Hillary does Africa……..

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in the middle of a 12 day trip through Africa. She is stopping in some places that hasn’t seen an American senior official in a long, long time. Good for her. Hillary, as usual, does a very thorough job when she starts something, and she is doing a good one as America’s foreign affairs secretary………..

Note: in quite a few places she stops in the Chinese have set up shop already…………..

Republicans for 2012………

Over at Politico…they did today the first of many early pieces on the 2012 Presidential Race……..the democrats will run Obama for his second term (he’s only been President for few more than 200 day so far! ) but the list for the Republicans is very  long indeed, right now………

Romney, Gingrich, Huckabee and Palin round out my first tier…..the second tier would consist of ……Cantor, Thune and  DeMint…bringing up the rear would be Jindal,Barbour and, well yes, Pawlenty……..it is reported that these people  have spent over $12 million already ( and brought in about $30 million )………..it never ends……

Healthcare reform IS good for the economy……..

These days a lot of Republicans are arguing that they are scared that Obama is tinkering with Healthcare…….that Healthcare reform will cost too much money…….well, the way I rememeber it….For the last ten years the country, and Congress in particular, has been too scared to mess with Healthcare, even though EVERYONE knows that the costs in that field are eating into more, and more, of the entire United States budget……I give props to President Obama for going at something that Congress and the Republicans (and most Democrats also ) have been running away from . Working to craft a program that gives more American’s medical coverage, and that begins to control costs.
