More changes to the Tax bill that was supposed to be done….

Probably will more changes….

We haven’t heard from Senator’s Corker, Collins, Flake and Murkowski and Cruz probaly won’t the guy to sink things on his own…But he hasn’t said yes….

House and Senate negotiators have agreed on last-minute changes to their sweeping tax measure to win over GOP holdouts — although it’s unclear whether it’ll be enough for a pair of Senate Republicans to come on board.

The negotiators have agreed to expand the child tax credit at the behest of Sen. Marco Rubio, who announced on Thursday that he would be a “no” unless the credit was made more generous. The refundable portion of the child tax credit was increased from $1,100 to $1,400, according to a senior Senate GOP aide.

News of the changes leaked out as a joint panel of lawmakers from both chambers began signing the legislative text they intend to be the final version of tax reform. They plan to release that text publicly at the end of the day on Friday.

Still, Rubio and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), who also wants a bigger child tax credit, said they’d yet to see the details.

“We have not seen bill text, and until we see if the percentage of the refundable credit is significantly higher, then our position remains the same,” a spokesperson for Rubio’s office said in an email….

Oh he talked with the Democrats a couple of times? Big Deal. All presidents talk to members of the opposing party at various times. As for moving to their position?I don’t remember Trump ever openly advocating the Democrats position.I remember “media reports” from “sources” that he verbally seemed to agree with them a few times, but open Support? No. More exaggeration from you in your increasingly desperate attempt to act as if there is a significant separation between Trump and his party? There isn’t of course despite your… Read more »

Since you agree, you won’t mind if every time you try to claim that Trump isn’t a Republican, then you won’t mind that rather than a lengthy post to destroy what little credibility you have here,

I will simply refer to your post of Dec. 17 wherein you concede that point.

Now,as to your continuing CG like fantasy…

So what if the Democrats win a House majority?Do you think Trump will become aDemocrat?Exactly what do you mean by “We’ll see what happens if…”

None of what James has written changes the fact that Trump is head of the Republican Party, and has governed as a very typical Republican for the last year (God help us).

This wind blows stuff is so much bunk, written when there is simply no facts to back up fantasy.

That’s old and ridiculous.I despise Trump but he won the Electoral vote and the Presidency.

You don’t like it?Change the Constitution .until that time , you look more ridiculous than you usually do( and that’s saying something!) by your continual harping on this.

He sought the Republican nomination not the Democratic One so that “wind blows”rhetoric is pure BS.

Maybe you join CG is describing him as a “secret Democrat?”

Gross silliness!

Who Cares if he has no “ideology?” Who Cares what he “believes?” While this gigantic irrelevancy seems to fascinate you and CG, the rest of us are watching how he Governs. That was this is all about. What programs does he support? What kind of people does he Appoint? And the rest of us see it very clearly. He supports Hard Right Republican programs down the line.He appoints Hard Right Republicans to regulatory bodies and to judicial positions. The only purpose of politics to elect people to run our nation… Read more »

Well of course it is inconvenient for CG because Trump, whom he personally detests ,has taken over his party. I get that. Then ,there is James, a supposed Democrat, who spends almost as much time trying to convince everyone that Trump is not a Republican, all the while announcing that Donald Trump is the Republican Party. When confronted with this laughable illogic, we are greeted with some inane blabbering that “people can be more than one thing,” shades of “gray,” and other goofy off the wall malraky.… Read more »

There is a last minute provision in the GOP tax bill that benefits real estate moguls like….Donald Trump. Republicans wrote this because at their core they live to give tax cuts to the richest of the rich, like the Trump family. And President Trump so sign it because he likes things that make him richer. Can we pontificate over what Trump said back when Seinfeld was still on in prime time or what Bill Clinton told him in 2013. Sure. It is completely immaterial to… Read more »

What we have here is very simple… Republicans acting like Republicans. Republicans really believe this oft proven fantasy that cutting taxes for the wealthy and corporations will somehow result in all sorts of benefits:better and higher paying jobs, greater tax collections astronomical economic c growth among other things. It’s a mantra they repeat over and over. Its who they are.Its one of the major reasons their party exists. Oh there is the ritualistic “concern” over the deficit, but that has no meaning as they are showing with… Read more »

Agreed Keith.
Also stupid is the almost daily comments about Trump eventually falling to his “historic” Democratic label. We hear concurrently that Trump has no core, no ideology, will follow whoever is currently praising him and also that this is part of some long game where Trump will eventually side with Democrats for single payer health care and tax hikes for the rich.

It deserves to be called out on it’s ridiculousness –and then ignored as anything Alex Jones rants about.

Comment missing, this is getting old.

These folks are closing in on the slam dunk, unless someone else goes to the hospital. It appears that John McCain is fading fast. This is a tough form of cancer, one of the worst next to pancreatic. I expect this piece of shit bill to pass, the Republicans are almost more afraid of their rich contributors than they are of their racist base. I think it’s worth going back over some of the silliness of the last week. First, this tax bill is a… Read more »

I have said for weeks that the Republicans would pass a tax cut bill. I still think they will. I can’t see Lee ,a very loyal Republican being the vote to sink this centerpiece of the Republican agenda. Collins is always a wild card. So that leaves Flake. He is leaving the Senate so some might think he could vote “ no” just out of frustration at the way his Senate career hadended and as a final kick at Trump. I believe though the Flake still… Read more »

What type of person cares what Ann Colter Thinks?

Ann Coulter is opposed to the tax bill because she thinks it is too favorable to poor people with kids instead of rich single people like herself. She has no vote in Congress so I don’t know why her being in favor of legislation that is MORE punitive to the poor is any “consolation” to me.

It’s not

If it’s any consolation to you guys, Ann Coulter is opposed to the bill too.

Collins, Flake, and Murkowski, voted for it the last time. There is no reason they wouldn’t vote for it now. The bill got more “moderate” in the interim. The question is if McCain and Cochran would be able to make the vote, but it doesn’t look like they are needed.

If they made the bill “better” to Republican holdouts, it’s far more likely to pass. It also means they made the bill “better” for Democrats as well, even though Democrats are not going to acknowledge that or think that it is good enough. Welcome to politics. The credit should go to McConnell and Ryan, not Trump. He will claim it though.

Corker has now flipped and will support the tax cut bill.

Unless Collins reneges ,the bill will pass with unanimous Republican support.

Sounds like Rubio made a good play (on behalf of families with children.) He can claim to be a winner on this now.

Rubio will vote for the tax cut.

He was just holding out for a sop.He got it.
