Republicans want this country closed off and back to the 1950’s…Open Thread for Dec 8, 2017….

No more immigrants….

Hunt down those who came here illegally , cuff them and ship them out

No more abortions…

Black and poor people denied the right to vote….

Guns for everyone….

Give your money BACK to your boss…

Gays are denied their civil rights….

War….Not Peace….

More guns and tanks….

Get rid of social safety net programs…

Tell OTHER countries…They are on their own…

Tell American exporters….You can only sell in this country….

Threaten to take away a healthcare program that has enrolled almost 10% of Americans who had NO healthcare except the emergency room…

Added to all this is the idea that it’s all right to put people (guys) into office that lie, cheat and steal from those less fortunate…..

All that excitement about Barack Obama being the first black/mixed race President and a Democrat has made the Republicans hard pressed to ‘take back’ a country that IS  into second decade of the 21st Century….

In order for the above to be stopped?

Democrats and some Republicans are gonna have to NOT accept resignation and rise up and VOTE….In local , state and Congressional election next November and in 2020….

Image result for trump and republicans

They could get some help from the Robert Mueller final throw-down which will show a New York Real Estate guy who fell into the Presidency of the United State ill equipped to handle it and has tried to get in bed with a foreign power’s people that have done a masterful job of penetrating a start-up American Presidential admin and  tried to get even with American winning the ‘Cold War’…..

In addition ?

At what point does the fear of replacing an American President over come the fear of leaving the guy in to wreck just about everything he touches as he has with past business dealings?…

Donald J. Trump IS the Grand Ole Party these days…He stole it in broad daylight last year and continues make it follow his outlandish and ill conceived action’s…..

Those actions listed above, and more?

Done by guys who MOST America’s do NOT approve of or Support…

Point to a country looking to go BACKWARDS….

Not to contiune being ‘Great’….

CG,
You are so wrong you horrible Illinois Prognosticator. If Roy Moore can win a Republican Senate Primary against an appointed Senator in Alabama in Luther Strange so can McDaniel in MS. McDaniel came within a whisker beating Incumbent Sen. Cochran in the 2014 GOP MS Primary.

Scott p

I’m not saying the seat is definitely going blue by any stretch. Just commenting on how toxic a situation it is for Trump Republicans in 2018 that an open Senate seat in Mississippi isn’t necessarily a given for them.

CG

I’m talking about Bentley and Strange and then Moore coming in and the special election being in an odd numbered year.

There is multiple dysfunction in Alabama politics at all levels for the past few years. Mississippi is serene by comparison.

Scott p

Yeah those other factors are Trump and Bannon and they ain’t going away. They’ll get involved in MS too. And I look forward to it.

CG

Absent McDaniel, MS would not be competitive in Nov. 2018. Hood is much more likely, if he wants to gamble on a bigger race at all, to run for the open Governorship in 2019.

There were lots of other factors in play in Alabama.

Scott p

Trump carried Mississippi by a 17 points. He carried Alabama by 28. A much higher African American base in MS is the reason for the difference.

It would still be GOP favored unless that nutter McDaniel manages to win a primary. Then all bets are off and the road to a Democratic Senate becomes much much wider.

Imagine if the South had 2 more Democratic Senators (MS and TN with Bredensen) to join Doug Jones next year.

No chance Hood runs, unless Republicans nominate a child predator.

If this happens, there will likely be an incumbent Senator running in the special election.

BREAKING
MS Senator Thad Cochran expected to resign in January per Politico….

Another Open Republican Seat. Now the D’s have to find a credible Candidate…AG Jim Hood would be good.

Yes – Journal Square is where the Jersey City courts are (not sure what else is in the area), so if you were charged with prostitution that is where I believe you would have to go. Hopefully, you got a favorable verdict or a minimal sentence.

of course, you would get a chance to see it if you decided to take me up on my offer for lunch!

Often I have been taking the train to Hoboken and then walking to my job in Jersey City. The walk – much of it along the pier – provides a stunning view at Dawn of Lower Manhattan. It almost makes my long commute okay.

It’s a tie at the moment. Two recounts to go.

Under a plan being floated by the conservative Federalist Society, the GOP would use its control of Congress to increase the number of judges on the lower level federal courts by 33 to 50 % – in a single year. This would enable Trump to name twice as many judges as Obama did in eight years! Conservatives used to say they opposed judicial activism – and then they proposed the most extreme judicial activism in our lifetime. Of course, they once claimed they opposed increasing… Read more »

I don’t know how much of a “problem” Trump has with Nikki Haley. It was widely reported last week that he was “furious “ with her for essentially calling for an investigation of his alleged sexual harassment of a number of women.Knowing Trump and his reaction to those who cross him such seems logical. Exactly why Haley reading a speech, likely prepared by her staff or the State Department in her capacity as “UN Ambassador ,would elicit such a comment as, “Anyone who thinks Haley has… Read more »

Looks like he is not backing off that statement, Jack and is doubling-down on “people can be more than one thing”. Disappointing, but predictable. James is not going to change, and he doesn’t believe his comments are incoherent. So what is the point of pointing out obvious contradictions if he can’t even understand your point?

My Name Is jack
Guest
That’s a pretty good summation of my point Zreebs. However,I have come to believe ,as I said earlier ,that James really doesn’t think very much about these things and actually just types out whatever he’s thinking at the moment with no thought about what he said earlier. Then ,when called on it ,reverts to some convoluted explanation that is even more nonsensical than his statement. If he doesn’t understand that claiming Donald Trump is the Republican Party but he isn’t a Republican lacks coherence?Well, there… Read more »

James, You have said that many, many times. But don’t we all know that – certainly including Jack? For example, Jack knows I’m a Democrat – even though I deviate on some issues from what the other Democrats here believe. Perhaps you think you explain your positions more than you actually do. Most of us have largely given up trying to understand what you mean, although we sometimes still read your comments. Jack still tries – certainly more than the rest of us. When Jack… Read more »

James, Regarding your 8:15, I don’t fully understand your point. What makes the world go around? Are you using “the world” as a metaphor?

How could Trump be a secret Democrat if he is the leader of the Republican Party and proposes extremely conservative legislation and nominates extremely conservative political nominees?

Could Hitler have been a secret Jewish sympathizer if the reason he killed the Jews was because he was power-hungry and it helped him politically?

This is my second attempt to post, and it is getting frustrating. I got Scott’s contact information in my identification block twice now. Core Republican principles?? Of course Trump has core Republican principles, he is racist, greedy, and hates government (unless, of course, government is doing something for him). Nothing could be more Republican than that. I won’t be around tomorrow until late, phone banking for Doug Jones. Amazing that there are so many displaced Alabamians in San Francisco, but their accents are very effective… Read more »

“And it’s funny that his biggest fans absolutely hate Republicans”

Seriously? Are we living in the same universe? Perhaps you made that statement after seeing all of those pro-Democratic Party signs at the Pensacola rally? Or let me guess. His biggest fans fail to attend his rallies?

My Name Is jack

His biggest fans Are Republicans.

Just because these Trump Republicans hate Republicans like you(a RINO in their eyes Im sure) doesn’t in any way validate this weirdo delusion you are trying to sell.

It just proves the Trumpization of the Republican Party,

His biggest fans hate Republicans they th I k are insufficiently conservative–RINOs

If Trump is a professional wrestling character, then Republicans are professional wrestling fans who believe it is real. Look I can understand that you don’t like him ,but going to these conspiratorial type lengths as some type of defensive mechanism so you don’t have to concede that Trump is today a Republican,Is the leader of the Republican Party, is supported by Republicans overwhelmingly and is increasingly remaking much of the rank and file of the party in his image is way over the top. Don’t… Read more »

He sure managed to get enough recent Democrat Obama voters to vote for him to put him in the White House, so it worked out for him.

And it’s funny that his biggest fans absolutely hate Republicans, isn’t it?

Gotta go.

Scott p

Of course Trump would be much more popular if he took stands and pursues policies that Democrats would like too.

So this “secret Democrat” craves popularity but only from committed Republicans.

Makes sense!

CG

What’s there not to understand? He has no core principles. That is what I would have said before a claim he is a “secret Democrat.” He used to be quite open as a Democrat, and you might not have trusted him as one at the time, despite the positions he took. Now, he says he is a Republican, and I don’t trust him as one at this time, despite the positions he takes (and I do not like him even when I might agree with… Read more »

That’s all you’ve got ?

That this “secret Democrat” is governing as a conservative Republican So bunch of rubes will “love “him?

Delusional is too kind a word.

CG

The end game is that he got some people to love him.

It’s very simple. It’s about him.

My Name Is jack

And as the “Trumpization”( a new word I invented to describe what is happening to the Rey Party) continues…

YouGov/The Economist Poll reveals that for the first time, a Majority ,51% , Of Republicans believe that Barack Obama was born in Kenya.Last year at this time the number was 42%.

My Name Is jack

The usually non political former Secretary of State Condolezza Rice has urged her fellow Alabamans to reject”sexism , bigotry and intolereance”tomorrow.

My Name Is jack
Guest

This used to be somewhat amusing

Now it’s gotten weird.

Tell us CG why is this “secret”;Democrat doing all the things Scott described ,plus appointing a bevy of conservative federal judges (lifetime appointments) and the very conservative Neal Gorsuch to the Supreme Court?

What is the “end game?”

Scott p
Guest

So he’s a secret Democrat who runs as a Republican and says for the most part very Republican things in the campaign. Gets elected where he appoints almost an entirely conservative Republican cabinet and pursues Republican policies, endorses all Republicans in elections and seeks to dismantle programs and policies that have been supported by Democrats for decades.

Talk about a long game.

My Name Is jack

A person in denial.

CG
Guest

Then, “so what” should have been part of your initial comments. What you say here does not contradict the possibility of what you said I believe that he is a “secret Democrat.” He may very well be, but knows he has less to profit politically from being himself.

You do of course concede that I do care, apart from the “by and large” Republicans.

Scott p
Guest

I stand by my previous assessment. In 2017 Trump is a Republican President doing very Republican things with the support of almost all of the Republican Party.

So maybe “deep down” he doesn’t believe it. So what?

By and large Republicans don’t seem to care.

CG
Guest

You keep wanting to move goalposts and are unable to stand by your previous statements. Figures.

Scott p
Guest

“He has no core values or ideology”

So what? As President he is unabashedly advancing right wing ideology. Who cares if he actually believes in it.

🍎Zreebs
Guest

Perhaps – but with the exception of his position on trade, and maybe infrastructure – on which he has been largely silent, Trump is at least as conservative as conservative Republicans.

CG
Guest

That is correct. He has no core values or ideology, perhaps beyond a decades long and consistent opposition to trade deals, and will go upon any course he thinks will make him liked or looked at as a “winner.” He would change directions on a dime when it came to any sort of policy.

🍎Zreebs
Guest

Scott, in retrospect CG would have to admit that his comment that Trump is a secret Democrat was a stupid comment. And as a nonpartisan, he has probably just forgot to indicate so on this site.

Scott p
Guest
And speaking of the social safety net there is a story on Politicalwire on how the next target of the Trump Republican White House are programs to help the poor. Remember when we were told Trump was actually a secret Democrat who wanted to expand these programs? Maybe he wants to dismantle food stamps, Medicaid and federal housing to lead to a public uprising which will lead to a reinstatement and strengthening of these programs for the poor. Silly and stupid? Of course, but it… Read more »
