Things ARE going sideways on the Alabama Special US Senate election race….

House Speaker Paul Ryan urged Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore to step aside Tuesday morning just a day after another accuser came forward alleging that Moore assaulted her when she was a teenager.

“He should step aside,” Ryan said during his news conference.
“Number one, these allegations are credible. Number two, if he cares about the values that he claims to care about, then he should step aside.”
Ryan’s comments come as more than a dozen Republican lawmakers have urged Moore to step aside…

Attorney general Jeff Sessions “has told political allies in Alabama that he is not considering running for his old Senate seat as a write-in candidate in next month’s special election,” the Weekly Standard reports.

“That’s according to a spokeswoman for Sessions at the Department of Justice, Sarah Isgur Flores, who also tells me that Sessions is telling Alabama Republicans he is not considering being appointed to the seat if Roy Moore wins and is either not seated by or is expelled from the Senate.”

Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.) said it is “highly unlikely” that he will stage a write-in campaign against Roy Moore in the Alabama Senate special election, according to multiple media reports….
