Political Roundup for November 28, 2012…Red Racing Horses

GA-Sen: Rep. Tom Price said it’s “premature” to talk about a possible Senate bid. When a Congressman is asked about running against a Senator from his own party who has shown no signs of retiring, and he doesn’t say no, you know something serious is brewing.

More GA-Sen: Erick Erickson has a bounty on Chambliss, and this is more relevant than his usual antics because Erickson has deep ties to the Senator, working on several of his campaigns in the 90’s. His entry at RedState calls for a “conservative from Metro Atlanta” (like Price or Karen Handel) to step in, but Erickson later said he was considering a bid himself. Oh boy.

NC-Sen: Not that there was much doubt, but Kay Hagan confirmed that she’ll seek re-election in 2014.

WV-Sen: Jay Rockefeller made another non-committal statement about running again, this time going with, “I’ll make that decision in time.” Democrats are hoping he’ll decide by early-to-mid 2013.

TN-04: St. Rep. Kevin Brooks (R) is interested in primarying Scott DesJarlais. Like DesJarlais, Brooks is from the eastern side of the district, while St. Sen. Jim Tracy, another potential candidate, is from the western side.

WV-02: Open seats don’t come around very often in West Virginia, so there’s already been a mad dash for Shelley Moore Capito’s. For Republicans, Delegates Tim Armstead, Eric Nelson, and Patrick Lane as well as former state party chair Mike Stuart are all on the record as interested. Democratic St. Sens. Herb Snyder and Erik Wells, as well as party chair Nick Casey, have said they’re interested as well.
