Morning Political Roundup for October 5, 2012…Red Racing Horses

by: Right Reformer
Hello folks, it’s Friday again. After winning 3 consecutive news cycles, I think we can finish the week strong.

President:

Obama: Is there a foreign-solicitation bombshell about to drop on the Obama campaign? Just rumors now, but some reports are saying that solicitations for donations to the Obama campaign are coming from overseas, and that some donations are not adequately secured, in violation of FEC rules. We’ll see if anything comes of this.

Biden: Uncle Joe goes ahead and concedes that he and the President want to raise taxes by $1 trillion. Gaffe? I can’t even tell anymore.

NRA: Being a life member of the NRA, I just got the e-mail confirming that, yes, the NRA is endorsing the Romney/Ryan ticket for President. If you’re worried about Obama taking away your guns though, don’t worry, he doesn’t have the votes.

Romney bounce: PPP sees a 1% boost to their Virginia polling for Romney, and a 2% boost for their Wisconsin polling. The bounces will continue over the next few days until Obama can change the narrative.

Pres-CO: McLaughin has Romney at +4 (50-46) in CO. Slightly optimistic, I think, but a good datapoint for us.

Senate:

CT-Sen: McMahon isn’t just ahead in the polls, she’s ahead in the perception battle with Connecticut voters over personal finances and character. Quite a turnaround from the 2010 campaign.

AZ-Sen (2012): Not fully buying this, but PPP has Carmona up 2 in their latest poll of the Flake-Carmona race, 45-43. Of course, Romney is up strongly in the state and the undecideds in the race favor Romney 58-37, a gap of more than 20 points. Not to mention, voters in the state want a GOP Senate 50-40. This seat should be fine for us.

AZ-Sen (2016): If John McCain wants another go at the Senate, his popularity has rebounded quickly in Arizona, where PPP finds his best numbers in several years…
