The Paul Ryan roll out hasn’t gone the way the Romney people thought it would I’d think….
Mitt Romney has been pushed aside….
His push to have the spotlight on Job’s and Obama has been relegated to back pages of the Media…
The Obama campaign has pounced on Ryan’s Budget proposal with BOTH feet…
Paul Ryan has been challenged by crowds in Florida and Iowa on the cuts in social programs…
Current seniors would NOT impacted by the Ryan cuts…
But those seniors family members would be….
The Campaign is ON….
But Mitt Romney seems to have one strategy…
Stay VAGUE….
That and the Ryan cuts are scaring Republicans and making a LOT of Democrats HAPPY…
I’ve said this thing may be over early….
Mitt Romney seems to be working hard to have Barack Obama earn FOUR MORE YEARS….
There are 79 days until election day …November 6, 2012

To be fair… Daniel has a FUNDAMENTAL problem with Romney….
It’s not going to be over
“Early”
With a volatile economy like this?
No way
Indeed I think the way it’s looking the poll numbers will remain fairly static until late October or so
Jack agree that this WAS a disaster…
I agree that if the Obama Admin was gonna do the ‘right thing’ some heads should roll….
But if you read the links I’ve supplied here
You’ll see that the like the Banks….
The Government is gonna settle for money…
And that money has already-y been set aside….
I SAID the thing MIGHT be over early…
I did say it depends on how hard Romney helps Obama win by messing up continually…
Talk about a blast
Many of you might not remember David Stockman
He was the Paul Ryan of my generation
A wonkish whiz kid Republican Congressman from Michigan
Uponhis election in 1980 ,Ronald Reagan named Stockman Director of OMB
Amd Stockman began implementing the Supply Side gospel which was supposed to increase tax revenue by lowering tax rates
Problem-It didn’t work
Over the years Stockman became less and less enamored of conservative Republicanism and it’s failed nostrums
He finally conceded that all those numbers he used to rattle off ala Ryan came out of thin air
Today he let loose a barrage of criticism of the Romney/Ryan ticket
As quoted on Political Wire he concluded that Ryan’s math was all wrong and “devoid” of serious policy choices. He ridiculed Romney/Ryan as nothing but “empty sermons”
Read the statement at Political Wire
I’ll post Stockman up a in a bit
I remember the guy and his glasses
Trickle down and supply side, eh?
This isn’t be over early.
I remember David Stockman. I felt he was a genuine supply side believer at the time. Very few economists were supply siders at the time. Today, even fewer are.
Good morning everybody…..
Who’d think we’d be surprised by a GOP US Senate Primary in the middle of August?
from twitter….
PublicPolicyPolling @ppppolls
Going to have some very good numbers for Kasich today after showing improvement for R. Scott last week.
GOP Gov class of 2010 doing better..
The thing is still in development mode.
Ryan is a good pick as it solidifies the GOP base.
Romney needed that.
Manila….
The election is less than 90 days away …
It seems as if the addition of Ryan…
Has TRIED to rescue the Romney campaign…
The problem is….
Mitt is after two days trying to go vague on Ryan’s budget…
And launch an attack line against Obama’s popularity…
I mean ?????
And the guy the guy STILL isn’t dealing with the tax release issue which IS NOT going AWAY
“Ryan is a good pick as it solidifies the GOP base.
Romney needed that”
Yeah that’s what right wingers said about McCain and Palin too
How’d that work out for ya?
If you’re still trying to appease your base in August with a VP pick chances are you’re not in the catbird seat.
I haven’t brought this up before, but what kind of a leader would have his son Tagg inform the top VP candidates that they didn’t get the job? A real leader would have told the candidates himself.
Good point Z on making ‘ you DID’T get it ‘ calls
catch everyone in the morning…..
Later!
Hello everyone……
Good Thursday Morning!
The place is back
Sometimes getting bigger causes growing pains
Good Morning James!
Diving into the speculations – this “show us 5 years of tax returns and we’ll shut up” makes me think they KNOW there are some gaps there. Below 13%. Some of these guys HAVE to know.
afternoon mac…..
a huff post coming up on that…..
Unemployment rose in 44 states in July
I’m fully prepared for the standard spin here that it doesn’t matter
It does
And it is not good news for the President
James,
a small wish – is to put the “recent comments” a bit further up in the sidebar? It’s a lot of scrolling here… as I mostly follow all the comments back and forth…..
No problem Mac
I’ll do it tonight
Great service – thanks!
I second Mac:
It’s nice making the month-by-month archive accessible, but this site’s now endured long enough for the accumulated monthly links to take up so much space that they might be moved to the bottom of the sidebar.
You WILL NOTICE that the jobless rate number and the rising gas prices have pushed to the BACK pages
The Obama campaign IS on its game Jack
And Obama is back up since Mitt Romney
Helped him on this with the Ryan roll out
“You WILL NOTICE that the jobless rate number and the rising gas prices have pushed to the BACK pages”
Until it counts.
They always run a circus cause it sells the news.
Which is why I go what I hear on ESPN exclusively.
“this “show us 5 years of tax returns and we’ll shut up” makes me think they KNOW there are some gaps there”
Remember the pentagon papers?
It’s time for some brave soul to hack Romney’s returns out of the Government central computer.
Time to do the limbo once again!
Wow – I had not heard about this issue in WA:
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2012/08/16/mitt-romney-might-not-be-on-the-washington-state-ballot-in-november/
That’s pretty funny
Since Romney has almost no chance in Washington it probably wouldn’t affect the EC vote
But it sure would the popular vote
The Court will likely come up with some “creative reasoning” to place him back on the ballot
Actually Manila may be on to something
Romneys resistance to releasing his returns
Is certainly an open challenge to someone somewhere to access them in whatever manner possible
Laugh if you want
But if in early 1972 someone had told you that Richard Nixons campaign would break into DNC headquarters
The laughter would have been so loud it may have burst your eardrums!
Afternoon people….
I took the morning off….
Spent it in the garden re-poling the tomato’s that slid down after last nights rain and wind….
Good meditation…..
Manila….
Let’s face it…
If the Obama campaign WANTED to see Romney’s tax returns …
They’d get a copy….
This was just a way to get us people to print the story again which has slipped behind the Ryan stuff…
Z….
It’s 80 days out…..
He’ll be on the ballot….
agreed Jack….
The STATE would be laughing stock of the country and world….
Obama would make the call to the judge himself
Just got back from watching The Candidate. The villain in the movie was the Motch Brothers -who although I didn’t realize it until the movie was over was supposed to remind us of the Koch Brothers.
it was a decent comedy.
I assume you mean “The Campaign” Zreebs?
I have yet to see it
But have seen “The Candidate” starring Robert Redford.
sorry. you are right Scott. the Campaign starring Will Farrell.
the drawing of the lecturing dog is gone? A new look for the site. wow.
looks like I got fired from the prestigious politicaldog101 Advisory Board!
We are making some minor adjustments to the site at the moment. Things should be back to normal very shortly. So sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for your patience, everyone!
I see the lecturing bulldog fine.
Maybe Zreebs, I and the rest of the reactionary old-guard advisory board have become victims of the Canine Spring, swept away in a tide of Perestroika Dog 101.
So much for our plans to see our children and grandchildren become apparatchiks with power over key military, diplomatic and financial appointments.
The key line in The Candidate, of course, is the very last one as Senator-Elect McKay (The Better Way, D-Calif.) asks in the back of his car:
“Well, what do we do now?”
DSD, You are now the sole member listed on the Advisory Board. I guess we can call you a dictator! my short-lived career in a position of power on the Politicaldog101 Advisory Board appears to be over.
“If the Obama campaign WANTED to see Romney’s tax returns …
They’d get a copy….”
Nothing is private that a hand has touched and a eye has seen.
Definitely there are copies being passed around.
But what do they say?
Harry Reid has publicly said he knows.
Well,
What does he know and when did he know it?
Did H & R Block spill the beans?
“Well, what do we do now?”
The answer 40 years ago was “Make some nostalgia movies with people like Barbara Streisand and Paul Newman and a science fiction film with Dustin Hoffman!”
Did “Jeremiah Johnson” ever vote?
Thanks guys…..
The guys over at hostagtor have been working on the site….
You will see changes in the site from time to time over the next week or so as we try to get a handle on the growth issues here…
Z…..
I have NO problem with adding you back to my adivory board…..
I thought you didn’t want anything to do with the place awhile ago…
And you HAVE mad suggestions recently….
Let me know if you want to go back on the board….
Ha, ha, ha……
NO DSD the gnomes over at hostgator changed up a few things to check on them ….
The logo was one of them
Ok….
I’m out for the night….
Good Sunday Morning all!
The odds have been mailed in!
and are coming up….
I’m watching a re-play of the Jets – Giants exhibition game…
The Jets suck…
Assange holds a presser to keep the pressure up on the Brit’s (And US)….

Off the wall inquiry at fifth or sixth hand: a writer or editor in North Carolina wants to find someone who attended the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SPHistory/message/2070
Perhaps Jack might know someone.
I certainly paid attention, but from San Francisco.
I did know an old SC politico who told me he was there
Passed away many years ago though
That was before the McGovern reforms
So if he is looking for “delegates”
The youngest of those that were present would likely today to be in their mid seventies
Some of the protesters were in their late teens and would be in their early sixties
Me?
Watched the whole thing on tv
I have no recollection of the 1968 convention – other than what I read years later.
I have very vivid recollections — and I got to sneak out and watch Chicago’s finest do they worst. I also recall the look of my father’s face when he heard Aretha Franklin singing the National Anthem.
And I agree with Jack, the conventions are a snore at this point.
Let’s see how long SE’s long good-bye lasts. How many minutes or hours?
Keith, How did your dad respond to Aretha Franklin?
Jay Leno just took a pay cut in order to prevent further layoffs at his show. Nice move Jay! My opinion of you just went up!
As Howard Kurtz said, Jay Leno will now have to live with buying a few less antique cars.
Defending his opposition to all abortion Rep. Todd Akin said that “legitimate rape” rarely causes pregnancy.
It’s pretty frighening that women would vote for a man who qualifies something rape along those lines
Hopefully this sinks his Senate bid.
Yeh I saw that
Incredible
In his statement Akin said that”doctors” had told him this
I sure as Hell would like to knew who these “doctors” are!
You can find articles stating what Akin said on pro-life websites. When I was a teenage, I was told the same thing. But the facts appear otherwise:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effects_and_aftermath_of_rape
See, for example, this page from the (British) Society for the Protection of Unborn Children:
http://www.spuc.org.uk/youth/student_info_on_abortion/rape
I smell a post coming up on Akin…
Good Morning all….
Watching R&R in New Hampshire just now…… careful Ryan….. you’re outshining the boss… careful…….
heads up from twitter ….
PublicPolicyPolling @ppppolls
Mitt Romney ever so slightly in the lead on our Wisconsin poll. Results out tomorrow
BIll Kristol thinks Romney paying 13% in taxes while middle class folks pay much more is “weird”
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/20/bill-kristol-mitt-romney-tax-rate_n_1810512.html
What’s wrong with this socialist?
Doesn’t he understand that middle class tea partiers don’t mind that Mitt pays a lower tax rate than they do. In fact several of them called in to Dana Loesch after I was on her show a few weeks ago saying they don’t find it weird at all.
Scott….
They’re brainwashed….
james,
You’ve Mail.
Got it….
Romney in NH
‘find a Obama voter….and talk them into voting for the Romney / Ryan ticket …..’
