Coming up on the Middle of July……..

Conversation here has picked up!

And…

The General Election polls are ALL over the place!

Today’s had BOTH Romney and Obama ahead….

POLLS…

Take your pick!….

President Obama STILL leads in the Electoral Vote total’s state by state by a good margin….

And is in the running in North Carolina, Virginia, Florida and few OTHER state’s that he carried four years ago….

The topic of conversation on the last week has been the likability and delectability of Willard Mitt Romney…

Uh, Oh…..

Are some people getting nervous out there in the GOP despite the hype line that they ‘got this’?

Actually could these worried people be concerned that Mitt Romney has an ONE ISSUE Campaign?

Could he want it to be jobs?

But could it be WHERE is the money hidden….

And…

How much MORE than he said he had?

There are 114 days until election day …November 6, 2012

  1. It’s Sunday Morning…..

    I’m up….
    I’m STILL tired….

  2. I see George W. Bush has written a book on how to improve the economy. Where to begin……

  3. Ha, ha, ha, ha…….

    Yea….
Drop the problem in the NEXT GUYS lap!

  4. I only ever knew that he wrote a memoir.

And that numerous books on his Christian faith have been written.

  5. anybody got a name on this book?

  6. “There were questions that Gov. Romney wanted to address, and make sure people understood that he’s not a felon,” Ed Gillespie from this morning’s Meet the Press. Boxing analogies notwithstanding, you know your campaign isn’t in great shape when your surrogates have to deny you’re a felon. In fact if this keeps up Romney won’t go all 10 rounds. And, the fact that Willard has demanded an apology from the Obama campaign, for essentially telling the truth, makes him look weak and whiney.

    Somewhere Lyndon Johnson is smiling.

The brilliance of Obama’s new television commercial “Firms” (James you should really post it if you can) isn’t the way it just highlights the incongruity of Romney destroying “America the Beautiful” with his tone deft voice, but it is how it reminds us of all the jobs Bain Capital has shipped overseas, and how much money Willard has stashed in foreign tax havens (once again, a Presidential candidate with an overseas bank account – an amazing gift). The commercial takes Romney’s chief asset, a successful businessman, and turns into an un-American liability.

Karl Rove has to begrudgingly admire that.

The initial video of President Obama striding a few steps at the White House and then cutting to Mitt in full song is genius. The contrast between the President’s “I approved this ad” and Willard’s ridiculous attempt to sing is hysterical…the contrast between Obama’s vocal and physical gravitas, and Willard looking more than awkward as he tries to entertain old folks in Florida, is painful and embarrassing for the presumptive Republican nominee. This commercial is a smack down from the Obama himself – sending a strong message to Romney the whiner – don’t fuck with me or I’ll rip your nuts off. And it’s already running in the DC/Northern Virginia market bringing great joy to Democrats like me and tut-tuts from the elite chattering classes here – “those boys in Chicago have gone too far this time.”

It’s obvious that the Obama campaign’s strategy is to hit Romney hard early on, define and diminish him in the public imagination with a cartoon clarity that is tough, funny and true, and send him into the Republican convention as damaged goods. Actually with folks like Ed Gillespie, the Romney campaign seem to be doing all the work for Team Obama.

    Somewhere Rick Santorum is smiling.

  7. The book is actually a compilation of essays by various economists etc

George W just wrote the forward and apparently helped select the entries which I presume are in sync with his views

  8. I might check it out.

I’m interested in anything he and Bush 41(our two best Presidents, IMO) have to say.

The man sincerely tried to save the country, albeit in a wrongheaded fashion.

But he tried nonetheless, unlike the current occupant.

I’d even buy/check out of the Library a book on his Christian faith.

  9. Saved the country from what?

    Best president?

Even his most fervent supporters wouldn’t claim that?

His crazy policies directly caused the recession that began in 2007 and was kicking into high gear when he left office

Two disastrous wars that have accomplished nothing?

If I “blame” Obama for anything it’s not getting us out fast enough

Tax cuts for the corrupt wealthy and “unleashing” the criminals on Wall Street to run amuck?

Yeh he s a real hero alright

The only thing worse than his failed Presidency is the worship of uninformed tools like you!

  10. thanks Jack for the 411 of the W ‘book’

  11. so we know that it is a felon to lie on SEC documents, and we know that Romney claims the SEC documents that Bain filed are misleading. So why is the press offended with the obvious suggestion that Romney may have committed a felony?

  12. Z…

Do you REALLY feel that Romney is gonna have to worry about this past the political aspects?

  13. James, I have sent you my weekly General Election odds.

I’m also working on an article for later today.

  14. Mitt Romney has a degree (like Barack Obama) from Harvard Law School as well as (like GW Bush) from the Harvard School of Business.

I really doubt that Mitt Romney would be so ignorant, stupid or foolish as to make statements to the SEC and other government agencies that could be plausibly interpreted as perjury by any court of law. Nor do I think he’d fail to consult competent lawyers when filling out those statements.

He could make statements that might seem misleading or contrary to what you and I would think of as the plain facts, without risking a felony or even a misdemeanor. If he thought some area was gray or questionable, he’d certainly ask for advice before answering.

  15. No, because of its political nature, it would probably not be prosecuted. And if it is, Romney got the best lawyers money can buy. But it is a felony if the documents presented to the SEC are knowingly innaccurate.

  16. SE….

You numbers will be going up shortly…

  17. DSD…. I second you view on Romney and his accountants, lawyers and money men…

  18. Ok ….Z….

  19. DSD has hit upon an important point

I admit to knowing NOTHING about SEC laws

However I do know that it is quite common in those type of laws to preface the criminal violation only being prosecutable if the person KNOWINGLY violated the statute

That’s why those type technical matters are rarely prosecuted

It’s a standard that is exceeding difficult to prove

That’s why such matters if handled at all result in at most a civil fine and are usually let go with a warning

  20. Celeste Holm, a versatile, bright-eyed blonde who soared to Broadway fame in “Oklahoma!” and won an Oscar in “Gentleman’s Agreement” but whose last years were filled with financial difficulty and estrangement from her sons, died Sunday, a relative said. She was 95.

Holm had been hospitalized about two weeks ago with dehydration after a fire in actor Robert De Niro’s apartment in the same Manhattan building. She had asked her husband on Friday to bring her home, and she spent her final days with her husband, Frank Basile, and other relatives and close friends by her side, said Amy Phillips, a great-niece of Holm’s who answered the phone at Holm’s apartment on Sunday.

Holm died around 3:30 a.m. at her longtime apartment on Central Park West, Phillips said. (AP)

  21. and Jack….
    Romney is rich and hung…..

  22. “FLIRT LIVE WITH ASIAN LADIES”

Now that’s some advertising here that I can really get behind, James (although not with cash).

  23. I take it this IS an ad that rolls thru the site, DSD?

  24. I like the way The Dog implies

He knows nothing about all these ads

    BRING BACK THE RUSSIAN WOMEN!

  25. Mediaite is reporting that Ron Paul failed to win the majority of delegates at the Nebraska State convention

Nebraska was his last chance to win enough states to have his name placed in nomination at the Republican convention

There was some speculation here that such would cause some embarrassment to Romney

Seems that threat is now over

  26. He, he, he…..

    Jack you rascal you!
I told you what adbrite said….
‘something to affect that …..’yea you might NOT like the ad….But it makes you more money’

and since I don’t much more than pennies I kept them for a while….
But in the end they HAD to go…

  27. The rebellion is quashed !

  28. Oh Snap!

    New Thread is in order!

  29. I never had any objections to the Russian ladies; they didn’t try to load my browser with a full Broadway musical every time I opened a page.

  30. I know a Ron Paul delegate to the GOP convention, a Brown psych. professor who once ran for Mayor of Providence on the Libertarian ticket, and ran for General Assembly (state legislature) as a Republican in 2010.

While Mitt Romney won the RI pres. primary last April very easily, I think the convention delegates were assigned proportionately, although they might not be able to vote against Romney on the first ballot.

  31. I guess they can vote for anyone they want

But Paul’s name won’t be entered into nomination with a speech, demonstration etc

  32. Paul gave it up….
his zealous follower I afraid did not…..
    stay tuned….
I’m sure there IS more to come on this….

  33. Nope….

The Nominee , no matter what, is Willard Mitt Romney….

  34. and all that bullshit about 1,144 was just that
    bullshit….
    and just a number……
