General Election Odds as of 6/17/12…SE

politico….

Mitt Romney (50%)

While the President’s executive order may seal off
Hispanics to Romney, he’s still got the teetering economy working in
his favour.

Barack Obama ( 50%)

While his executive order no doubt puts votes in his
column, the big issue remains the economy.

With the results in Greece,
he might be able to breathe easier.

  1. I was hoping SE was going to rate Romey the favorite

After his hilarious “prediction” that Right Wing nut job Kelly would “easily” win Giffords Congressional seat out in Arizona

Would have given me more hope that Obama would emerge victorious

Unfortunately he seems to be living in reality today

When can we get him back to that crazy tortured world of Right Wing craziness?

  2. Well at least SE correctly predicted a landslide in the AZ race. He just picked the wrong candidate to win.

  3. That’s two chuckles in row Z!.
    He, he, he

  4. Zreebs and James B, I think Romney is going to need either 36 or 39 percent of Latinos to win the presidency and he’s going to reach out to Asians.

  5. His ceiling with Latinos is around 40%.

He’ll either take that much or fall just short of it.

At this point, I see Obama winning Latinos 63-37.

  6. Romney will be lucky to get 30% of the Hispanic vote

    George W Bush

    BY FAR

The most pro Hispanic Republican candidate on just about any level reputedly got 44% of that vote in 04

Romney has been on the wrong side of immigration issues across the board as far as Hispanics are concerned

And due to the increasingly extremist nature of the Republican base has little wiggle room to move much toward Hispanics

    So except for lip service

    Expect little more

For Romney to approach 40% would mean he is going to win the presidency in a landslide

  7. I agree with Jack. I think if Romney could win with under 30% of the Latino vote.

  8. On the Latino guess …sure SE…
    But as I point out…
And the media generally DOES NOT….
His move will affect NOT just Latino’s…
It will affect Asians, East Europeans and others

  9. agreed Jack….
if he gets more than 20% …
That would be like the second coming for him

  10. Romney is probably going to get at least 25% of the Latino vote. If he does’t, he’s toast. but I don’t expect Romney to get 30%.

  11. He, he, he….
    I’m in for 20%

  12. I wish I could remember Gov. Romney’s positions (if any) on bilingual education (and government services) in Massachusetts.

He daren’t play one of his strongest possible cards with the Mexican-American community: his father’s and grandparents’ roots in Mexico, fleeing back to the states, I think, when Mexican anticlericalist nationalists (think PRI) won a long civil war against the hyperreactionary, landlord Roman Catholic Church (think PAN).

It would be great for Romney’s Spanish-language commercials to show the settlements and farms his forebears established in Mexico, but such commercials would drive the xenophobic, English-only, birther wing of the GOP into paranoid psychotic rage.

  13. He’d DARE NOT….
    I can see it NOW…..
    WHERE IS HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE?

    I don’t care WHAT it says!….

    You mean HE’s an ILLEGAL?
