First Play – off win in 12 Years?
Melo with more than 40 Points ….
With an often-dreadful performance in a 89-87 loss to the New York Knicks, the Heat failed to complete a sweep of the best-of-seven opening-round NBAplayoff series, instead creating a need for a Game 5 Wednesday at 7 p.m. at AmericanAirlines Arena.
The victory snapped the Knicks’ 13-game playoff losing streak, their first postseason victory since 2001.
The Heat went in aware that a second-round series against the winner of the series between the Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers, which Indiana leads 3-1, would not begin until next Sunday at the earliest.
As it is, more work remains against Carmelo Anthony and the increasingly debilitated Knicks.
On an afternoon the Knicks got Amare Stoudemireback from his post-Game 2 hand injury, they lost starting point guard Baron Davis in the third quarter with a dislocated right kneecap, increasing the possibility of a Game 5 appearance by rookie phenomJeremy Lin, who has been out a month after knee surgery.
Anthony led the Knicks with 41 points, supported by 20 from Stoudemire.
LeBron James scored 27 and Dwyane Wade 22 for the Heat.
A 3-point play by Wade put the Heat up 72-69 early in the fourth quarter, but Anthony then pushed the Knicks back in front….
