Romney is warned NOT to go soft on Immigration….But….He HAS too….

What DOES he do?

Mitt Romney has already signaled that he IS for a form of the Dream Act for school aged immigrants from illegals….

Marco Rubio is drawing up his own version….

The Latino/Hispanic and other immigrant connected families are VERY aware that GOP members want to send illegals back to their home country even if they have been de facto American’s for decades , paying taxes and staying out of trouble….

The issue may, in fact, be the issuance for Barack Obama getting another four years….

And Romney is gonna heve to make SOMEONE unhappy with how he handles this issue……

But he really doesn’t have much of a choice…..

Does he?

The GOP Primaries don’t matter anymore….

Immigration hawks are warning Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican nominee, not to moderate the hard-line stances on border security and deportation that he took during the GOP primary.

Conservatives who focus on an anti-illegal immigration message are worried that Romney will move toward the political center in the general election election campaign after he suggested the GOP develop a “Republican DREAM Act.”

“Any reversal on these positions would destroy his credibility, alienate conservative American voters who outnumber Latino voters, and exert the same pressures on Mitt Romney that destroyed John McCain and Rick Perry’s campaigns,” said William Gheen, the head of the anti-illegal immigration group ALIPAC. “Not only would a Romney shift on immigration hurt him among Americans concerned about illegal immigration but it would signal that he cannot be trusted on any issue or topic whatsoever.”
Romney, took a hard line on immigration during the GOP primary and said he would veto the “DREAM Act,” which in its current incarnation would allow some illegal immigrants a path to citizenship. But he said at a private fundraiser last weekend that his campaign was “doomed” if he didn’t improve his standing with Hispanic voters. Romney did not detail policy specifics of a “Republican DREAM Act” and avoided discussing those comments when asked about them on Friday in Arizona.

Former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), a longtime anti-immigration activist, said he was unsurprised that Romney seemed to be signaling a shift…..

  1. He actually has some wiggle room here

These so called anti illegal immigrant types

Are basically just your garden variety haters

    And they HATE Obama

    So despite their “warnings”

They will give Romney some slack here with the euphemism

That at least whatever he comes up with is

    “better than Obama”

Will it help him significantly with Hispanic voters is The question

  2. I don’t know Jack….
If he DOES NOT move away from the border hard liners
He loses a LOT OF support

  3. Here’s another point
    My sister reminded me
    Not ALL IMMIGRANTS ARE LATINO
So the issue DOES effect more people than one group

  4. You continue to WAY underestimate the power of

    HATE

    This people HATE Obama

    RAW unreasoning hate

    Sure they’ll raise Hell

    Call him names

But in the end they will vote for him

They HAVE to get that Black guy out of the White House!

Remember how pissed they were at Bush

Didn’t make em vote for Kerry

    And they didn’t hate him

  5. I hear ya Jack….

  6. telling phrase:

“.. .alienate conservative American voters who outnumber Latino voters, …”

not “conservative voters who outnumber Latino voters”, or

“alienate conservative American voters who outnumber American Latino voters,”

obviously, he thinks that Latino voters can’t be conservative Americans, maybe not even American voters (contradictory as that is)

  7. Manila Calling!

    Hate?

Why is it if one disagrees with ones political opponent it’s hate?

    Because it is.

Obama is a jerk who wants to raise taxes on the rich when he didn’t repeal or let lapse the “Bush” tax cut when he “had” (as in past tense) control of both Houses of Congress because it would be bad for the “economy’! What makes you think a tax raise is still not “bad” for the economy? The fact his friends have cashed out of the Stock Market?

Oh, to be financially pure as Jack is.

Gives me goosebumps all over my body!.

So hate Romney for being so clean and straight.

    And you do hate him

    But you won;t admit it.

    Because it’s really not hate.

    It’s really,

    (GAD!)

    pity!

Lots of time between now and November.

  8. The above post confirms what Republicans are all about

    Only concern

Are the poor poor Rich people

Tis a real pity about them
