U.S. Representative Peter King has been running all over town throwing political punches at the Obama administration on the NW 245 incident…..he sits on the House Homeland Security committee so he has access to briefings on the investigation……
But he is also bombastic, canny and smart politician who can read…..and what he knows from reading is that New York State is probably going to lose a House seat when they do the reapportionment off the new census figures….and since the democrats own both New York Sate legislative Houses..he’s in deep trouble….and will will probably have his house seat taken from right under him……
Which leads us to the Junior Senator from New York, who is also in deep trouble with down state democrats, who really don’t know who she is, and nevertheless, don’t like her, and what her political background was (the downstate voters aren’t going to differentiate either)……
Kirsten Gillibrand loses to ANY big name republican in the polls…..she was picked by an unpopular governor, and for my money she was the wrong pick……
King would be smart to take the plunge……
The democrats need to talk Bill Thompson the guy who bearly lost to ‘Money Mike’ Bloomberg to primary her…beat her…and make this a good race for the seat this fall…….
From Merlin……
To give you a sense how a Gillibrand – King Race would shape up here are the latest CoH Totals ending Sept. 30:
Kirsten Gillibrand (D) $ 4,174,276,41
Peter King (R) $ 1,341,242,55

your killing me!….ok BEFORE I do your post I’ll update the King piece….
he, he, he……
Well,
You are the Political Director at the Dog and I’m your Assistant, he,he,he.
You never give Kirsten any respect
What gives
she’s the wrong person for the spot…..
and you know I give my women respect…..
you’re doing a darn good job….thanks for the hand…..
Tim,
james is right. Gidnet was a bad pick. While King trailed Gillibrand by double digits in August it’s by no means to say that she still holds that lead.
The Political Environment has sharply turned against Dems and my guess is that King is within 5 Points or so of her AND having more than 1 Mio $ on Hand isn’t a bad start to throw his hat into the Ring.
amen……
Dems need to be darn very careful if they stick with Gillibrand. She’s hated downstate and King is from downstate.
King faces also the prospect of being OUTDRAWN after this years Census & Reappointment.
For example: Mark Kirk (R-IL) faced the same Situation and decided to take the higher step running for Senate.
agreed……..
