'Cash for Clunkers' program may have run out of 'CASH' in a week……

That’s right folks…………the program …….which is funded with a billion dollars fro rebates fro replacing old gas inefficient cars with new  more deficient ones  will probably shut down tonight.   Federal officials have been swamped with paper work, and are  afraid that all the applications in the pipeline  (which will take a while to process) will cash out the week long program………

The US Army is having a internal discussion on withdrawl from Iraq….

It seems that General Ray Odierno commissioned a study of the Iraq troop withdrawal by  Col.  Timothy Reese. who is an adviser to the Iraq’s Baghdad command. Reese has done the report and turned it in in early July. Not following the political line within the military, Reese has called for a clear withdrawal of American troops. His analysis srgues that the Iraq’s have been st free recently and are going their ‘own way’ on several fronts. Reese also feels that the old Soviet ‘iron hand’ management style has been the model for thst countries military and it is more likely to endure after the US troops leave………an interesting bit in the piece in the NYTimes by Michael Gordon is that Maliki is quietly lobbying for troops to be left in country after the 2011 deadline……we’ll see…
